Anyone else can’t even find a job?
I’ve been applying for everywhere for weeks now and it’s like… no one is hiring. Why do these places even bother with the signs and the posters and the ads if they’re so damn picky on who they hire??? Everyone needs money right now to even BREATHE; and it’s just so freaking discouraging every time I call to follow up and the phone just keeps ringing, “manager isn’t in today”, “call back at ass crack early time”, or my FAVORITE “just apply online”. I don’t understand how I’m not even old yet and it aggravates me to apply online. I don’t want to apply for 20 minutes, 40 mins depending if there’s a damn questionnaire, and then get no follow up email and the same bs of trying to call again. The only way these managers know you exist is if you talk to them because otherwise it’s out of…
Am I wrong for thinking this is crazy? Sorry it’s kinda long. TLDR; Company wants me to work for free to make up for the difference in hours after they ignored all my communication efforts so that I could gain the capability to actually work. I signed a contract a few weeks ago to work a certain amount of hours per week for a remote job. Upon signing the contract, the manager told me they would send me a list of tasks to accomplish within the week and then from there I could determine what further work needed to be done for the following weeks. After the week passed of waiting for their task list, I followed up asking for the list of tasks to which I received no response. I followed up again two days later still with no response. I contacted another manager in the same department asking…
my partner works at a daycare, and employees were called for a meeting today due to too much overtime. people cutting breaks short, not taking one etc. their boss pressured them into signing a form stating they are going to take 3 hours of overtime off of their time sheet that was ALREADY WORKED. not like my partner lied or anything, they WORKED THE TIME and their job is saying “oh no that’s too much” and is now taking the time away. is this even fucking legal?
Should my boyfriend look for a new job?
My boyfriend works as a chef at a grocery store kitchen. When he started, he loved his job. He gets to cook whatever he wants using store ingredients. Starting wage is $14 for cooks. When he began, he was one of 5 chefs on payroll. Primarily, the kitchen has two at once and maybe three at a time depending on how busy they expect the day to be. Two chefs left and that left them with three. Around the same time, a few deli employees (basically same department) left as well. Things got more busy because the chefs were also being scheduled for deli positions too. Not that big of a deal. The manager said they were going to have someone new in a week. A month later, my boyfriend and the two other chefs were breaking overtime. One asked the store manager, “Can we get a raise since we…
Isn't it mind-boggling how millions of individuals once gathered with unwavering determination to storm Area 51, even embracing the audacious act of Naruto running, all while risking their lives? Yet, when it comes to the collective decision of putting an end to our daily work grind, we hesitate to take action. Imagine waking up in a world where we reflect on the past, marveling at the successful strikes that reshaped history. We have the power to be the catalyst for change, to become the inspiring chapter future generations will study and learn from. The weariness of being continuously exploited by the government, toiling away for meager sustenance while being expected to express gratitude for our subpar conditions – it's simply exhausting. It's time for us to stand united and demand a better future.
