I keep having the same problem where the list of responsibilities at work keeps getting bigger and bigger and every week I feel more tired than the last week and even though I endlessly try to adapt my diet, sleep and exercise routine it just doesn't seem to help that much. I end up feeling ill and spending all my time resting and recovering only to feel more tired the following week. I ensure that I sleep well every night by taking sleep supplements 3 hours before bed, like valerian root, chamomile tea, l-theanine and magnesium. I listen to Yoga Nidra videos on YouTube until I fall asleep. I also have my own epilepsy medication which helps a great deal. Then every day I eat like a bowl of porridge with a tablespoon of peanut butter and a handful of blueberries and then for my main meal I eat a…

I'm not one to say “there ought to be a law” very often. But there really needs to be more to protect job applicants. In some states, if a grocery store advertises a gallon of milk for $1, and you show up and they are still charging the regular >$4 a gallon. You can demand that $1 gallon of milk, and they can be fined pretty significantly. If a retailer pulls a bait and switch, advertises AwesomeBrand Widget at a great price, then you show up, they only have OkBrand Widgets, they can be fined. Why on earth can employers get away with this blatant false advertising? And just to play devils advocate for the employer. I understand why they may have a job posting where there is no immediate opening. But that should be spelled out in the posting. Sure, I'll send off a resume to a…

Hello! I have an interview tomorrow (I know, cutting it close lol) as a veterinary assistant in Indiana. I do not have any professional experience with animals but have a ton of personal experience and I am confident in any task or problem that could be thrown my way. The job's listed salary range for this position is $13.50 – $24.00 an hour. The location is also 45 minutes away. I will not settle for less than $16 an hour but was thinking of asking for $17 to start. I would even feel like asking for $18 an hour wouldn't be crazy because I know how great of an employee I will be for them. I'm just afraid they will pass me up because I'm sure a lot of others would settle for the $13.50 starting pay and also with how far away I live. The company seems nice and…
Been with this company for 3 and a half years. I feel like my production has been better in the past 6 months than it ever was before. If I was going to get fired/formally scrutinized for performance, I would have thought it would be 2 years ago or so, not now. I’ve worked harder recently than $24 an hour on the west coast justifies I feel. The general consensus about these PIPs seems to be to get the hell out ASAP and start looking elsewhere for work even if they don’t fire you right off the bat. I hate the job search process though. The cover letter nonsense especially drains my sanity. I do have one former coworker who said he would put in a good word for me at his company but if that doesn’t work out then I’m probably in for a miserable time. Not necessarily looking…
Shut up, really sick of seeing or hearing this. You’re not winning a debate or even technically correct. You are only splitting hairs saying this, the system is designed to pit us against each other. Capitalism=greed. No ifs, ands, or buts.
I offered work from home from day 1 but my bosses are dinosaurs and they don’t like working with technology so it inconveniences them more if you’re working remotely (I’m a trainee lawyer). So this means that even though I’m on doctors orders not to move for a week they’re still fucking asking me to come back to the office because their own convenience matters more than my recovery clearly.
I apologize for this rant, but really looking for advice out of this situation. I'm not insane am I? I (29F) don’t even know where to start but wanted to get some help on how to proceed at my work, especially with my higher up (Director A) who has caused high turnover lately, I feel like I'm his next target for firing. He's been mentioning alot about how I'm not able to meet my deadlines as accurately as I used to, which I acknowledge. I do have depression and anxiety, but I go to therapy once a week and also try my best to get my work done despite this. Sometimes things fall through the cracks because I would get extremely busy, but no one else would manage the project with me or check in until it was way too late since majority of the time, we are overwhelmed—I end…
You don't have them yet. Stop trying to make us give a shit.
