Even if I’m literally puking my guts up I have this voice that says “you should just go in, it’s not that bad” or that I’m straight up making it up. Choosing my own health feels like I’m doing something wrong

I have terrible anxiety and my work is doing a party soon. I loathe going to them because it’s forced “family fun” and I have a sensitive stomach and can’t eat most of the food there. There are also games you are told you have to play and it’s all just incredibly awkward. I usually get myself worked up into a stomachache. Does it look obvious if i call in sick on the day of the party when people there know I’m anxious? I’m relatively new – less than a year at the job .
Taking all our time
It’s absolutely bizarre to me that we’ve seen the rise of salaried workers not being paid for lunch… I used to work salary 7:45 to 3:45 — of course they tried to pressure us to get there early, but there wasn’t anything they could do. Now I see a lot of companies don’t include a lunch break and want you to work 9 to 530 or 8 to 430 … it seems absolutely bizarre to try to steal that extra 2.5 hours from employees when they are spending their best waking hours at the job. How did companies get so greedy? They’ve forgotten without employees they don’t exist.
I work at a conpany with 8700 or so employees. All remote. Since 2017, the PTO policy has been unlimited PTO. It was great! We are a fully remote SaaS-based company. Today without warning, our Chief HR lady sends an email out saying everyone only has 15 days of PTO per year. Oh but wait! They still generously give us the final week of the year off, so its really like 20 guys! No, its not..that final week is PTO not on our terms, but on the company's terms. Id rather work the last week of the year and use those 5 days elsewhere, like most people. What this means is that we have 15 total days (vacation or sick) to ourselves for 51 weeks of the year. Thats one day off every 3.5 weeks. What has pissed me off the most is the sudden change WITHOUT warning. No heads…
I am a 25 year old adult who has been working in cafes for 10 years, and have been managing them for the past 5 years. A couple months ago I started working at a popular cafe and I was being treated like a child by one of the owners. I believe he’s sexist because he treated me as if I don’t know anything. He (bear with me, I hate this term) mansplained everything. He made sure to “show me” how to change the trash bags and how to mop. He even had to ask me if I know how to mop. (Even if I for some reason never mopped the cafes I’ve worked in for the past 10 years, I still own my own house and live on my own) I worked here for about 3 weeks and then I got strep throat. I called in and was told…
I’ve been working at this place for less than 4 months doing overnights 11pm-7am Thursday-Monday, and every time our AGM has a 7am shift without fail I call her at 7:05 to ask where she is and every time she’s just waking up. Then still takes 20-30 minutes at least to arrive from there. So I had enough. I wrote a scathing email to all the higher ups and cc’d her on it. It’s completely unacceptable to have a manager disrespect me and my personal time, over and over. The head manager replied thanking me for bringing it to their attention and they would make it a priority to sort out. Fuck shitty managers. And always call out bullshit when you see it. Cheers 🤙
i’m a college student and am a summer hire. i started working in late may. i’m going to give my 1-week notice on wednesday, which is 3 weeks before the end date that i stated when i originally got hired. quitting early is to go on a trip that i last-minute planned with my friends. like i said, this is completely a me-issue and i am being a shit employee. the place i work for is a large corporation in which i’m sure the upper management couldn’t care less ab me as an employee, but at the same time, all of the people who i directly work with are nice and i have had no issues with them. my goal here is to think of a reasonable sounding excuse (i acknowledge that this might be an impossible task) so my last week is the least awkward i can make it.…
I work as an overnight direct care aid in an assisted living facility. There are issues (low pay being chief among them), but one thing I can't understand is why so many of my colleagues come to the facility on days they don't work, during a shift they don't work, for monthly “staff meetings”. They're paid, but it still costs fuel and time to drive across town (or in from out of town) to attend a 30-45m meeting. Most of the time, there's no agenda, even when I ask for one. This month, the agenda is “CEO is coming to talk about being a 'Team of ONE'.” Normalize not going to meetings when they're scheduled outside your working hours. If managers want people physically at the meetings, they can run them as many times as necessary to catch everyone when they're on shift. Otherwise, it can be an email.

I am new to the working word(just graduated) as a developer and I like coding (I do extra on my free time) What I hate the most is the fact that I hate being controlled and being so not flexible,I hate work politics, I hate commuting and I hate meetings.I understand that company trust none but why do they have to control everything I do , we are supposedly in an hybrid format but they control were I log in from , what is the difference if I am in Poland or at the office , as long as I am doing my work(?). Why do I have to work 9-5 if I can get stuff done, should it not matter when and how I work? I am a developer I like to work while I watch Netflix in my house at 8 pm why should I wake up at…
