My boss called me the other day asking me to come in on my day off. I refused as I had something to do. He got pissed at me and now I'm hearing talk of being fired for it. I have been at the place for 4 years, never so much as gotten a warning. Always on time and will usually cover if need be. This was the one time I didn't want to come in because of something was planned. Yes, I do work in a right to work state. Is there any legal recourse or anything I can do?
Category: Antiwork
My husband works for solar Energy World, they texted him last night at 730pm. Telling him he is laid off. Well he didn't work 18 weeks, so in PA he's not eligible for unemployment. I am so scared we were homeless almost a yeah ago(pandemic plus slumlord and bad credit) and even then I had a job I worked for more than I make now. I am so scared I don't want to go back to living on the street. I seriously don't know if I can do it again. I am thinking about giving away my cats to a shelter and giving up. I have come so far from being homeless and work so hard, and this happened, I really don't understand why I even bother trying at this point. Is it too much to ask to have a job, work hard to have shelter and food? I am…
This is too bleak.

So I think it's me because he was saying something about not wanting to fire someone they just trained, only me and 1 other person recently started working here. And technically I'm still in training after 4months but I'm not really ever trained, I just have to figure it out as I go. Important to note this is a family run business of about 20ppl and most are related or been there for years. I also say my position posted online on Google and geebo, it was posted last week and they're paying $3k less than what I get. Idk they never told me I was doing anything wrong, they all said I was great etc. Literally nobody said anything to me at all. So I'm a bit confused. Idk I said all this bcuz I really don't want to go in today if I'm going to get fired, yea…
Thinking of walking out
I am an RDH and have been working for 10 months. I graduated May 2022. The office I work for has struggled to get me my hours from the very beginning but there were periods of time here and there where my schedule was full and I was promised it would get better. They hired me for Monday to Thursday 8-5. The other hygienist is 8-3. I went in with the intent on being a temp, as their post said, but then changed to wanting me permanent before working officially. Before several assistants were hired recently, I was also allowed to help with sterile laundry etc. to pick up just a little extra time and help where we needed it. I would pick up where things were slacked off on and where other coworkers were leaving early from work. There were a few situations that happened that I felt the…
Gonna try to make this a series. I'm going to comment on a few policies around the world. And you guys choose to comment on it. Please try be civilized to each other. So, the first one is going to be Education & Healthcare. The nation I'm basing this of is a nation which thrived during trying times. Where its neighbouring countries were engulfed in constant war and dictatorships. It's a real nation BTW. The nation decided to stop investing in war, and re-used the money on education and healthcare. As a result from that, population growth and life expectancy sky-rocketed. But more importantly, the economy also sky rocketed as well. Healthcare & Education is kept through a system of Taxes. The former has it's own tax divided in two separate bills: one for immediate medical attention; and the later for saving for future and long-term medical treatment. The education…
I got fired but also my revenge
Hello! I apologize if my English isn't clear enough. Wanted to share this story because it feels very good to stick it to an A-hole boss. A couple years ago I had a crappy job in IT (like most of them). I was supposed to be outsourced as some sort of customer support coordinator, but the guy I was outsourced to actually wanted me to work as tech support. I didn't mind but figured it was a yellow flag, so I called my company's “HR” and said it was OK. My company was VERY small and new, and the owner/CEO usually dealt with HR stuff even though he was clearly unexperienced. A couple months went by and I noticed I was the one working the most, BY FAR, while the on-site boss and my other colleagues just stayed in the office and watched girls on Instagram. Since I'm a woman…
I tore my Achilles Tendon outside of work and was able to talk everyone out of taking me to hostpital but ended up going the next day. I went to urgent care to hopefully get a answer how fucked I am but they just came to the same conclusion I got from youtube. They told me to get a splint from the Hostpital and apply for emergency medical since I don’t have insurance as a 20m. I work construction and as a server at a restaurant which allows me to live pretty comfortably with my wife who is also a server. The Hostpital ended up giving me a shared room and made me wait forever to get an X-ray and a bandage splint. They never even gave me the. Pictures of the X-ray and never said how bad my tendon is. They kept focusing on my ankle and not my…
