I only ask this because our lovely former governor would rant and rave about how he was going to get this done, that done, and raise our minimum wage to $12, then to $15. I honestly was under the impression it was $10 or something here at the least (I’m not originally from PA) and considering how expensive everything is and how low-paying most jobs in my area are (on average 12-13) but nope, it’s still $7.25….for the last TWELVE years. I’m dumbfounded. Makes sense why many of us are on the struggle bus here.

I work for two hotels in California. The one pays $21 flat rate which is not that good. I still have to do physical labor work like carrying the heavy trays with many plates and forks and cleaning and doing chairs/tables at the end. The female employees who have been in there forever don't do it saying they are old to. The second banquet job I feel like I am a last minute flex employee. I got hired with some experience but then I was thrown to micromanaged by 7-8 more employees who have been there for years. Me and 4 more people are always being assigned to bus, nothing else. Only the people who have been there for awhile or are relatives of another employee there tend to do bartending or buffet attendant. I am aware Bussing is part of the duties but those people little bus and get…
Left my job for a better one
I’ve been working construction since I graduated from school 9 years ago. I met what I considered a good fiend at the company I worked for and he left for another company because he got a supervisor role. Well when Covid hit the company I worked for laid a bunch of us off. My friend offered me a job and out of desperation I took it and now he was my boss. The job paid $30,000 a year with no benefits. No insurance no retirement no sick days no nothing and if you wanted to use your vacation days we only got 5 a year btw you weren’t allowed to take it from May to October as that was “our busiest time of the year”. Also weekends were mandatory I had off Tuesday and Wednesday and with a 6 year old son in school that sucked. I got a job…
I hate calling in sick, but ….
I worked under this woman for 3 years at a moderately sized health organization. I am a healthcare provider that held a clinical support role in a large region, overseeing 50+ offices by the time I stepped down back into clinical/direct patient care. Not only was she my supervisor, but I truly saw her as a mentor as she is a pretty prominent figurehead of our clinical profession nationally, very active in our association. I loved doing that job, I travelled a lot, learned a lot, grew tremendously within my field from a non-clinical perspective and she supported me along the way. I always felt we had a great professional relationship. My yearly evaluations were always positive, supportive, and constructive. I was never written up and had good feedback from out in the field and my colleagues (as far as I knew). I stepped down from my support role when…
I played hooky today!
I had no meetings and very little to do at work today. I work in IT mostly remote (i.e., can go into the office but it’s not mandated) and today was a home day. A few hours in, I realized it would be a very slow day so me and my bf headed to the local water park. No PTO request, just getting paid salary while I ride water slides and eat ice cream! Sometimes you just gotta say fuck this job lol, figured anti work would appreciate
The blatant evil of it all is somehow still mind boggling. They aren’t even bothering to whisper anymore.
A work friend of mine showed me his LoR before he gave it to the boss. Can I legally reference points he made in my own or was I technically not supposed to see that?
They’ve lost their minds…
Not even 8am and I’m hating my boss
My boss asked me to create a poster and I did. But gave me ZEROOO direction of how to make the poster besides her saying that she didn’t like my email notification and her comparison of my work to my predecessor (who quit after 5 months into my fucking role). So she’s gave me no direction and when she explains, she always trails off and say “and umm… yeah”. If that is what a boss is, man, we’re so fucked
