Just thinking about that while seeing another post somewhere on here where a lady forgot the lyrics to the national anthem and I started to realize how dated those lyrics are. I was thinking I've worked at a couple fast food places and they said I wasn't allowed to leave the building on the 10 minute breaks “in case we need you if it gets busy”…. but I'm on my break and therefore cannot work soo I'm going to go vape???? Then I was thinking about the brave part. I was actually scared to go to a city planned fireworks event last week and my SO had to convince me it would be ok and there wouldn't be a mass shooting. I'm not agoraphobic by any means I love to Cycle a lot but huge crowds like that I absolutely will never trust again in my life. We are actually…

How to protect self against retaliation
I'm waiting for the date when a family member is to be baptized and I was requested to attend. Depending on the date I will need to take some time from work, maybe work a partial day or something but still need to take time for it. It's a call center who I do not trust to make the proper accommodations. Or if they do I'll face reprocussions. So what can I use to help me get this and who do I contact if I face retaliation?
I’m playing God of War and just completed this side quest where I had to free a giant sea creature that was chained down. After removing chains I was expecting it would swim away, but it simply stayed because it was accustomed to being chained for so long that it didn’t want to leave. It was staying up afloat and would rather stay and enjoy some breathy air. Fuck. This creature reminded me of some of my coworkers who are in their 60s, still working and do not want to retire. They have their mortgage payed off, kids long graduated, married and have successful careers. I’m honestly scared to become like them. I’m 30 and still have about 35 years till retirement age. Even game developers know we are fucked. US is fucked.
Sorry. You’re not allowed to quit.
In my first post college job, I received a stellar review after a year of work and got a 12% raise and a 10% bonus. This was over a decade ago. Ever since then, the only avenue I've had to make more money is to hop from job to job. No one will give me a raise, it's not even part of the discussion anymore. Every time I ask for a raise, even just to keep up with inflation, I'm offered $100-$500 holiday bonuses, or told I can leave if it suits me better. I do data work, I'm solidly in the middle class. I don't know if there's a point to this post. I just had this thought last night and I had to put it in wiring. The last time I was offered a raise was at my very first job. Fuck.
Faked a “major injury that I can’t recover from” because due to an accident (which I really think is them framing me) my checks have to be cut in half because a dog ate a toy apparently on my watch and it’s 3k to remove it. Meaning I’d have to worn years to pay it off. After 100 hours of work in two weeks I was texted I’ll be paid 200 dollars due to this incident. I quit two days before I had to work again and she’s been spam calling me and calling me ridiculous. I feel bad for lying but I’m genuinely so burned out and I can’t afford to live off such little money, I didn’t want to say that because even if they tripled my salary I don’t want to come back. They said they’ll pay me Thursday but I doubt I’ll ever see that money…
Took a new job in a “very low cost of living” city about 2 years ago with a decent starting salary of ~$100k. This city typically shows up in the top 5 cheapest places to live in the US so I was hoping to finally buy a house. Fast forward to today and my pay has barely increased but everything else has skyrocketed. Seems that a lot of people are moving to the city seeking a more affordable lifestyle. I've been saving for a down payment but housing prices are increasing faster than I can save. More than doubled since 2021. I keep lowering my standards but the homes in my price range truly horrific. Mold everywhere, missing walls, major water damage… I felt like I finally MADE IT with my six figure salary but the American Dream seems less obtainable than ever. At this point I'm just hoping for…
