The good folks over at r/adhdwomen suggested that I post here. I’m looking for advice and also need to vent. For the past 6 years, I have worked at the public library in our tiny village. In 30+ years of struggling in the workforce, I never thought I would find the perfect job, but this is IT. It’s perfectly suited to my ADHD with the variety of tasks, helping people, socializing, creativity, data nerd stuff, etc. I was knocking it out of the park on every level. Being part-time with no benefits was not ideal, but that was a tradeoff I was willing to make for a job I could throw my heart and soul into and feel proud to tell people what I do for a living. In early October, the board of directors informed me that they ran out of money to pay me and I am officially…
Are there social programs for bills?
Something where you pay in a percentage of your income for something like the electric bill, and just have the bill set to auto pay?
Tl;Dr my manager blamed me for complaining about a girl who doesn't work even though she privately told me it was a bunch of people. So now the girl has everyone not talking to me and making indirect threats.I need to quit. Should I work one more shift to see what they say if they say anything? Should I send an anon letter to the owner with details about favoritism and the unfairness and this girl sleeping on the job? Should I show everyone the nasty rumors this one girl said about everyone because they are siding with her now? Am I over reacting? I've been at the same job since 2015 and I'm the longest worker besides the owners at this vet. Recently my manager said privately to me, that everyone on my shift keeps complaining about one girl, who has been calling out/not showing up (posting on insta…
If you haven't noticed, people are struggling and trying to make ends meet. People are looking for more easy ways to make money fast. My experience with scams lately has been the fertilizer scam where they charge $10 a bag for 10 minutes worth of work where they tried to charge me for $600 when clearly maybe 3 bags have been used. They become increasingly confrontational and refuses to leave my property. It resulted in me pulling a gun out due to them refusing to leave and the threats for escalating violence. There's a thousand scams to watch out for. Stay strong out there. I really value this subreddit and I'm just looking out for everyone especially in the holiday season. Question everything and push back. Stay safe. Happy holidays.
How I got fired from my last job.
Yaama (hello), fellow anti-workers. So, in 2022 and early 2023, I was working for a small architecture/design studio that was Indigenous (Australia) owned. I was the community engagement coordinator, designer, AND researcher. Now, I loved my job at first, but as time passed, I kept being told I disobeyed company rules that were never once explained to me. All I was told was (and this is important for later) that we ALWAYS pay people for their time when doing community engagement. As time went on and my soul was crushed, my mental health took a deep dive, so much so that I ended up in the psych ward. Now, before this, I was told to organise some community members from inner Sydney to walk on a development site to discuss what they would like from the development and how it can benefit the community. Now, my boss & I were…

So, picture this: I'm working at this recycling joint on the West Coast, right? We've got this cool policy where if we snag a MacBook or whatever from the electronics drop-off, we gotta replace it with our own gear – laptop for laptop, Xbox for Xbox. Naturally, I decided to go big, rolled up in my buddy's truck, upgraded my whole setup, and the warehouse owner was cheering me on. Then, cue the next day, and someone unloads these massive encorp bags full of bargain basement Wish.com and AliExpress goodies. Last day before the weekend, so I'm using the forklift like a champ, stacking those bags for Monday sorting. Smooth sailing, until I decide to play Jenga with a pallet of used monitors on top. Suddenly, boom! Brown gas, white smoke, and I'm gasping for air. Turns out, one of those encorp bags was a surprise party of tiny fire…
