as the title says.this is criminal. partner has been on the hunt since dec 2022 for an opportunity to start a career. the state had a rehabilitation therapist position open, and he has a music education degree – a degree that was listed as desirable. after two months of god knows what, they proudly offer him 17/hr. i know state jobs have budgets, but if he took this position, he would be paying the daycare to work because the price for two kids a month is more than what he would make. the best part – we are stuck in that lovely “too rich for assistance, too poor to thrive” position. seriously though – what the fuck is the point of it all? how do you negotiate wage without straight up saying “you aren't paying me enough to fucking survive”. just needed to rant. i dont know what options are…

Hi all, Im just writing this to take this off my chest. I got an invite to a meeting yesterday at around lunchtime. The meeting was just titled Check-In W/ [VP’s Name]. When I looked at who was attending I saw the VP and an HR director. The meeting was set to the end of the day on Thursday. I am not sure what this could be, but I am afraid that it will be a layoff.

As the title says my company used vacation time when I called out sick when I asked I was lied to and told I didn't have sick time even though I have confirmed with HR and on my paystub that I had sick time to spend?

I originally handled a group of tasks that made my job tolerable. I had a coworker around my age which made it enjoyable to speak to someone of my age group. They fired her and basically just gave me all of her work to do. Then, decided to add another department onto my list of jobs to do, all for the same salary from the beginning. I just started working for this company just two months ago and just recently, it has been on fire for everyone in the company because how overworked and understaffed we are. I have emails a month ago that I still haven’t gotten to and it’s still piling up with no end in sight. My boss thinks it’s because of a communication issue, but it’s not. I’m one guy doing three jobs. I keep thinking that $22/hour and health benefits is worth the pain and…

I just don't see how anything will get better for us

Been working in my position at a sleepy nonprofit for about a year now. Not too much work, you can coast. Helped my boss hire a real go getter, webinar-watcher type that I met at a networking event for a role adjacent to mine in a different department. Figured it’d be good since that job had high turnover and she didn’t seem like she’d quit. She immediately starts overhauling everything. She’s high anxiety and always talking about how much more we need to do. Convinces my boss to combine our departments so I can work directly under her. Now she’s barking orders, setting deadlines, and sending me links for webinars for me to go to and implying I’m not working hard enough. Told me she’s going to hold me “accountable.” I’ve totally fucked myself. I’ve created a golem! I hate webinars. I hate having to constantly pretend to give a…
