My bf works at a hospital and they had a day off as it was a recognized holiday. However they used his PTO for that day, is this normal? I am asking because we were going to use his PTO for a vacation but saw it was used up.

We have a system where we evaluate ourselves, then our boss evaluates us after. Usually it’s done because the month ends. Our evaluations were supposed to happen in May. Today, I got very sick on my way to work and spent the day between appointments and being sick. I kept my boss informed the whole time. Then my doctor informed me I’m contagious and to take the rest of the week easy at home. I told my boss immediately and asked him if I could work from home or if he wanted me to call. I knew the answer: he wanted me to call in. He sends me a message later and let’s me know to send my evaluation confirmation to him, that it was due this week. On top of the hostility occurring in my department, I feel so hopeless.

… annoying managers, who you don't report to, can't creep into your room trying to get you to do some “favour” for them. Out of sight, out of mind….

At least when working from home you can put the volume down and ignore your senior bosses's boring attempts to show you what a great job they're doing. They give a very rehearsed non-answer why pay increases are well below inflation.
