Companies hiding poisoning a city
Requested off for my Wedding
I’m Stacey and I’m getting married on 7/8, that’s why I requested off months ago. Luckily, I work with some amazing nurses and it was covered almost immediately
I work a busy 8 hour daily shift, 1 hour commute each day. I want to say on the most busiest days (or even the slowest) my brain just gets fried by the 6th hour and I slug through the final hours before I clock out.
Getting by in the corporate world
I’ve been navigating the corporate world for almost 40 years. It took me a while, but found a strategy that helps. I think of it now as a game like “Survivor” or “The Apprentice”. You have to strategize before jumping all in. What exactly is the culture? Who is your ally? Who is your nemesis? Who gives you valid info? Who is full of shit? Who is listened to? Who is ignored? Who actually makes decisions? What organization within the company is the profit maker? Then you figure out some critical process or learn to access/interpret datapoints that no one owns. Then make it yours. It’s a game. People cheat. People lie. People protect their turf. Coworkers you think are your friend may stab you in the back. Don’t take it personally. Keep your cool. Stay moderately aloof. Try not to talk until spoken to, especially in meetings. When you…
If not they should be. Once many companies finally get a pulse on what it takes to retain employees and keep them happy, I think a job of the future will be a “Simplification Specialist.” Someone who's job it is to figure out ways to simplify jobs all in the name of making life easier/better for employees. Someone who literally looks for ways for employees to cut corners while still satisfactorily performing the duties they were hired for. Also I think they will start looking for ways to make work life more bearable & enjoyable. I think any job that can be made remote, will be. At the end of the day, everyone wants a stress free job, where they're treated with care, like an adult, and given as much freedom as possible. For instance, retail or fast food… I think at some point, instead of being told “you cant…
I just found it really annoying that they used my deadname and still emailed me that I didn't make it to training today when I texted this guy a month ago and told him I wasn't taking the job. I live an hour and 30 minutes away and don't always have reliable transportation(i share a car to drive). They were acting like an hour and 30 minutes was such a short drive for me and made a compromise for me to only come once a month for meetings and only go to trainings but that's still a lot especially since I'm moving so I can't work this summer anymore. Why do I have to give a courtesy call when I've already told them I can't work there??
So today my son was asking about money and jobs. He asked how much the minimum wage is and about some odd jobs and I educated him the best I could about what current rates are where we're at. He then said he didn't think people working at wherever should get paid more than minimum wage. I asked him why. He went on to say that it's mainly teenagers and young people living there with their parents. I stopped and thought for a minute and finally asked him a question. What happens if that teenager or young persons parents die and they have to rely on their minimum wage job to pay all of their bills? Luckily, he sat and thought for minute and asked me how much it costs for bills. We did some napkin math and he just looked at me and said they don't make enough. Assumptions…
