How to defeat existential crisis
That states it has 5 viruses…
I just did. All I will say about it, is that I really dislike old people. Thanks.
Just a note: every year the US House of Representatives sleeps 99% of the year on actual topics like “should we have free healthcare, like other first world countries”. But the topic of THEIR pay that comes from American tax dollars, they will vote unanimously, show up on time, and all agree that they need more money. Oh and Wall Street is also doing really well to pay interns $111 an hour. But fuck you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbR9PNjRC4Q Notice how quick they were to change the usage rules for the office spaces to allow conversion to other types of spaces. Apparently, when it comes to big business, they'll do everything to help. But making better zoning rules for low-cost residential units? oh no no.
For context I work as a waiter for breakfast/dinner at a senior care center. I work 5 hour shifts from 6:30am to 11:30am mainly and thats what I had worked today. My manager informed me that there was a staff appreciation thing they were doing as well as live music for the residents mainly because the news was coming and they wanted to look good on camera. I have my own moral issues with that but i digress because i just cant turn down free food truck pizza. I helped work the live music portion, handing out food and drinks to the residents before taking a break to grab some pizza and sit down outside. After eating I ended up staying outside for another 15 minutes or so because it was a break i had earned since i had been awake since 5am and EVERY other employee was also outside…
Charities are just as bad.
I have worked in the private sector, and the public sector and was tired of the exploitation, and I thought working in non-profit (charity) would be different (I figured I'd be exploited, but at least I'd do some good in the process), but in many ways it is worse; most charities in the UK appear to have been taken over by predatory elites who pay themselves ridiculously high salaries, pensions and performance bonuses with lower scrutiny than in shareholder companies. My charity CEO earns £450k plus huge pension and bonuses. His massively bloated exec team (larger than many much bigger private for profit corporations I've worked for), are on £150k+ as well as bonuses, company cars and huge pensions . They justify low pay, understaffing and high workloads for rank and file employees via the “we are a charity” spiel but they don't apply this rule to themselves. Like execs…
