The reason why I’m scared is because of financial ruin. I need money, I want money. But shit I don’t want a job. This is anti work so I know that statement has probably been made a hundred times. I’ve been here before mentally during 2020 and was able to pull myself out of it by taking a low stress job working no more than 5 hrs a day. I kept getting jobs like that low hours, but increasing pay (ironically). That was in undergrad though so it was more acceptable. I graduated in 2021 with BS Accounting so I feel like I have to get a FT job making at least $18hr. I want so badly to move out. The problem with this is I have become so unmotivated, my work ethic is nonexistent. I have only been unemployed for 4 months prior to this current position. I don’t…

Bosses and leaders continue to be disillusioned and disconnected with employees
From Gallup: More Americans this year (38%) say they are very conservative or conservative on social issues than said so in 2022 (33%) and 2021 (30%). At the same time, the percentage saying their social views are very liberal or liberal has dipped to 29% from 34% in each of the past two years, while the portion identifying as moderate (31%) remains near a third… When Americans are asked to describe their views on economic issues, 44% identify as very conservative or conservative, 33% moderate and 21% very liberal or liberal. The percentage saying they are conservative averaged 40% between 2020 and 2022. The current figure is the highest since 46% in 2012. TLDR: Please don't let this uprising social conservative trend to entice you to vote away your labor rights. We did that in the 1980s with Ronald Reagan. We don't need to do it again. Anyone over the…
I don’t get it. If my workers work from home, I will safe rent for an office building, right? Are they so conservatively scared of change that they will literally rather waste money?
I am one of the laid off, so take this rant with a grain of salt. I was just floored today to see on LinkedIn that the Chief People Officer calls herself a “culture champion”. This company laid off 10% of staff and could not service customers, cut out all travel and in person get togethers (fully remote), eliminated the annual company party, perks like fertility benefits, peer bonuses, wellness, unlimited PTO, professional development. Also increased the amount of time to earn a sabbatical, is trying to force people near offices back in, and is talking about lowering salary for people who have moved to lower comp markets. All within time since the “culture champion” has been hired. I cant tell you how bad I want to comment on that LI post, it is infuriating to me how companies like this promote themselves as something completely different than what they…
