More Layoffs Today
We had a boatload of layoffs today at my work again. We're in biotechnology and we're heavy into COVID related products so they “right size” very frequently. The bosses who had to layoff seemed devastated and in tears today, which always is odd to me. In fact, being sad about the departures has always been weird to me. I've been laid off twice and I can't explain how like… happy I get? Like grinning ear to ear? And when they mention severance I'm like sweet and when they're like it's not you it's just your senority and it's like yep I know no problem! PTO and managers
I am a registered veterinary technician at a busy emergency hospital. About 5-6 weeks ago I put in a PTO request for this Saturday 6/24. It was denied by my manager because she could not find coverage and another person was already on PTO. Fine. My supervisor tends to have a bad habit of taking off whenever he wants, leaving late/early. Us normal workers are not allowed to clock in even one minute late and it goes on our record. I recently asked my manager if my supervisor is held to the same standard of attendance as us, and the answer was yes (he’d be fired by now). Come to find out, my supervisor last minute took the whole entire week off for a family wedding he forgot about. Including the Saturday I asked off for over a month prior.
