This person I didn’t even realize I had to work with until recently, (I’m basically her secretary now) loves to make me look dumb. I’ve been on the job for 3 months, zero training and she has been for 27 years. She loves to send me vague emails with a ton of acronyms that she knows I have never seen. When I ask my colleagues they have no idea wtf she’s talking about either and when I ask for clarification, her replies are even more confusing. She just refuses to speak plain English. She invites me to virtual meetings with clients and always makes sure they know that I suck and she’s a master. I’m embarrassed and the clients are super uncomfortable. Hiya folks, I'll keep this short. So, I've been struggling to find work. I talked to a few people and mentioned to them that my dream job would be with a previous employer that I worked for on a temporary contract. I loved it there and they were very happy with me too, as they asked me back on one occasion to fill in for someone who was on temporary leave. These people that I talked to suggested that I send an email to this former employer to ask if they have any kind of work for me, freelance or otherwise. There are no job openings whatsoever, so it's a real shot in the dark. This sounds like a sensible idea to me, but I just can't for the life of me figure out how to write this email. I was just “let go” this morning. I had been on PTO for the passing of my father-in-law. I worked as a paralegal for a real estate law firm in South Carolina and took time off to drive 13.5 hours away so my wife could be with her dad the last few days he was with us. I kept my boss in the loop the entirety of my absence, helped when they reached out (while off the clock), and he had okayed everything. We made the drive home yesterday, after the funeral on Tuesday. When I got home, I checked my work email for something we needed, and couldn't log in. I received a call this morning from our office manager, not my boss, that I was being fired. My boss has refused to communicate with me, and as I work in an “at-will” state, there was no reasoning behind…

This is mostly just a rant. I work in a warehouse and for the past 9 months it has gotten really bad. Workers have been complaining about the unsafe and crowded working conditions for months and nothing got done. The second they got a notice from OSHA everything was fixed within days. Yesterday after work at our end of day meeting our AM basically threatened us in to making sure we pass the OSHA inspection. He kept us several minutes after we were supposed to clock out to drone on about how there’s cameras to see who causes anything that might get our company fined. He mentioned if we do get fined it comes out of our budget and mentioned we wouldn’t get any Christmas bonuses.
