Has anyone been able to convince their company to let everyone stay fully remote after a hybrid return to office was announced?

Just wondering if mine and my coworkers' attempts to remain fully remote are even going to have a chance. Mostly everyone is upset with this change, of course, and many of us will have an hour commute or more. Mine will be over an hour and a half. We were told that remote was here to stay, so many of us moved further away from work (office is in a very hcol area). They want us to talk about what we think of the change but it seems like it's just them wanting to portray the illusion that they care, when the decision is probably final and not up for negotiation. Just curious though if anyone's been able to sway their employer to stay fully remote!

The system will win – as it always has – in the absence of a general strike

It's always encouraging to see any number of the American proletariat highlighting the abuses of the bourgeoisie. Posts on this sub and on other platforms are a good sign. BUT… At the risk of diminishing these positive signs, I gotta tell yas, I see a sign up ahead that says, “no farther.” Those who adjust the dials on this system know full well those jobs we all point to while yelling WTF will – come hell or high water – get done. Starvation and homelessness have always been effective levers, and that has not changed. As long as the barely satisfied are unwilling to risk what they have to help the desperate, the fine tuning currently underway will achieve corporate goals, and they'll do so in short order. A general strike, in which sufficient numbers of the employed cease all economic activity, namely working, to strengthen the bargaining position of…

I’m going on disability!

I just need to celebrate this a bit. Nobody gets it, but I feel like this sub will. I am so sick that I am bedridden and will be for the foreseeable future. It's obviously devastating. Until January I was a database manager and I made $70k at a nonprofit. being sick absolutely sucks, I can't see friends, I can barely talk to my partner and I have to eat meal replacements for 2 out of 3 meals because my digestion is fucked. I am completely miserable and so is my partner (who has to take care of literally everything in our lives now). However. I no longer report to a boss, and I don't expect I ever will ever again. And that is something nice to hold onto.

Do you really need a job like this? Or does the job need you? What is an essential worker? I think fodder.

An Alternative System

Hey everyone, I’m a long time lurker in this sub. Well I don’t want to go into the details of how have I been affected by stupid employers throughout my working life as well. I’ve got fed up with capitalism and was looking for something alternative. That’s when I found this. A solution called The Venus Project (www.thevenusproject.com). I’ve been doing some reading and watching their videos on YT for the past 3 weeks. They seem very legit and ACTUALLY have a viable solution (albeit it’s hard to be implemented at first). Unfortunately, you’ll have to watch a few videos or read few materials before you can begin grasping their ideas since we’ve been strongly conditioned with the way things are now. The founder Jacque Fresco had a very impressive background as well. The project is now under the supervision of his partner, Roxanne. They aim to build the first…
