Deep Roots Harvest
Deep Roots Harvest has always been pretty scummy, and I used to work for them in a different location but this is a new low. Luckily people have already taken to leaving bad reviews for the Reno store. On a side note, when I used to work at the different location we managed to unionize last December and oh man were the higher ups pissed. Anyways, just another bad company exploiting it's workers.
Employee tears into rude customer
Nepotism nightmare
I have a job that I used to love. Small company, huge growth, great people. I have 15 years experience in my field. My supervisor Paul, who hired and mentored me, left a few months after I came on board. The owner of my company hired his 26 year old daughter, who has no experience whatsoever, to replace him. He told us she was “the new Paul”, yet I got all of Paul’s duties. She got the title and the salary. I am disgusted over the fact that this dumb twit is now my boss. She makes the workdays miserable and acts like a 2 year old if she doesn’t get her way. She is on Facebook all day. I have just about had it. Why would an owner make such a stupid decision? And what would you do? Obviously, it’s a sensitive topic since I would be complaining about…
Am I being gaslit?
My boss asked me to evaluate myself on a career ladder which I did. Then he evaluated me and by all measures he gave me the lower rating based on feedback he received. Nothing specific until I asked and I was told that I don't perform at my level. Now I have been given rather vague goals (change people's perception, own the outcome, establish relationships) to achieve in 6 weeks or go on a pip. I asked peers for specific direct feedback which was positive and constructive. Yet my boss categorically rejected even looking at that feedback. I am sensing that I am not wanted by my boss. I feel unappreciated, stressed and anxious and maybe I should just ask to be laid off. Any suggestions?
What pisses me off the most.
It’s utterly saddening and infuriating that people often resort to drugs and/or alcohol to numb themselves because of work. Additionally, addiction because of the workplace is quite normalized (E.g., posts and comments r/KitchenConfidential). The trend of people abusing substances to deal with their problems stemming from work utterly wrenches my stomach. Let’s not victim-blame here, either. But something must be done. Work is hell.
I don’t know if I’m fired or not
I haven't been put on the schedule for a few days, and now I don't have access to the app to check, but I haven't heard anything from my managers. It's freaking me out, It's my first job and I don't know what to do.
Bittersweet Situation, Need Advice
I can't go into much detail for obvious reasons.. and honestly I'm a little worried someone from my company might see this and I will get ratted out for talking.. The corporation I work for bought out a mom and pop business almost a decade ago. Once they closed the deal, they immediately liquidated several of the stores and laid off a bunch of people. Fast forward several years and what was once an inter-state business with over fifteen locations is now reduced to five.. soon to be three.. the corporation's real estate people decided to just give up on negotiating the lease for two of our locations over six months ago and now the store I work at and another location is closing. The shitty part is, we just learned about it on Friday 5/5/23.. they've known about it since November.. now we have to help them close down…
No wonder there are no caregivers
So I'm an HCA in Washington State. My agency is under a union contract and we are paid better than most other agencies in my area. However, even though we get better wages and caregiver rights, management is absolutely fucking terrible. My previous supervisor quit about a month ago. Not sad about it, actually pretty friggin' grateful, because they were absolutely useless when it came to anything important we had to report to them. Never clearly communicated, would leave you on read for weeks (they preferred texting), ignoring HCA's and clients' calls/messages, micromanaging etc. So yeah, not crying about it. Our current supervisor is a tad better. Doesn't take them weeks to get back to you, but only responds through text and rarely ever emails. Not much of an upgrade, but an improvement to communication – if I dare say it's even an improvement. Now, I'm pretty communicative and I…
