Fuck it, the worst that'll happen is nothing. It's a grocery store, I figure if Starbucks can do it in a few places then it's worth a try. I'm preemptively looking into a lawyer just in case of retaliation, but truly I don't have much to lose at this point. We're painfully understaffed, we're all burnt out and exhausted and openly fed up with their shit. The only reason I haven't quit is that it pays the best in my area. Here's hoping.

Unethical Managers
I work in a sales job. If sales goals are not met, we are put on discipline. One way my coworkers avoid discipline is by buying the products under the name of family members, neighbors, etc. I do not agree with this and refuse to do it but it has become a common practice in the office. Recently another salesperson who has been struggling with selling certain products has been asked by our direct managers to purchase these products in their partners name. I have ethical issues with purchasing products to avoid discipline to begin with, but to be directly asked this by management is another thing entirely. What do you all think? Is this even legal?
Finally turning in my notice to start college after dealing with a a half baked excuse for a boss who would make 60,70,80 yr olds work 55+hour shift while only working 40 himself, while still managing to be there enough to make the place toxic.
I worked in sanitation at a food processor decades ago. The job has been popping up in stories a lot lately, most kids as young as 10 working in the wee hours of the morning. The story, though, is about a woman who had her head stuck in a machine that was running while she cleaned it. She was working through a temp agency, but the company she was assigned to not only didn't train her properly, but they didn't train her co-workers to turn the machine off in an emergency. I worked at one company through a staffing service and saw it happen. The one trimmer machine was an accident waiting to happen. First thing they taught the kid working the machine is how to override the safety switch by blocking it open with a 2X4. When the machine would get clogged, the supervisor was supposed to clean the…
Happy people
This thought hit me the other day; I don’t know a single person that works more than part time that is truly happy and content. They’re all living in a constant haze of exhaustion, feeling they can’t keep up, constantly chasing the next new thing and working for those small portions of their life they are not working. The only people I have met that are genuinely happy and enjoying life are the people I met whilst being a couchsurfing host. People that took stray jobs, traveled the world and did everything they wanted to do, worked when they had to earn a bit to travel to the next destination and for food. Everyone I know with bachelors, masters and phds are living outside their means. They drive cool cars they never use, live in houses they never use. They just exist to work and pay off debt. We as…
Just realized something kinda crazy
So I recently got a job doing security at a state park by my house, and I was just thinking about, and hot it's a little crazy that they really gave a 17yo fresh out of highschool with no job experience the keys to thr entire park with just an interview, I think I got them befptr thr background check was even completed lol It's a decent job too, 13/hr and I don't have that many responsibilities, a fair amount of time is spend just sitting around or doing odd jobs. I also get a cool DNR outfit to wear 🙂 Not sure if this is the best place to post but I just wanted to share
You have to commute an hour to work? Just get a different Job close to home. Yeah because its sooo easy to get a Job. Especially one without a pay cut. Cant afford to live in your area? Just move to a different cheaper location. Yeah because moving doesnt cost anything and involves no risk right? People giving such advice have either been incredibly lucky or are part of the burgeoise. Because the average Joe doesnt have the time/money to move or quit their Job.

I work at a restaurant. A small diner style type. Anyways Manager is on vacation and left me and a few other employees in charge. While I was off my shift at home. An idiot cook gave a client raw food. The client was (reasonably pissed) and comes back another day when the manager is off of vacation to complain specifically about me and some other coworker. About how we slack off and don't do work and chitty chat. The first half of the complaint I got from the owner was about how it was our fault as the people in charge that we let something like this happen. (I was not there). But since this client wanted to complain about me specifically and another coworker we got the shit for it. I tried to explain to them that I was not there and basically they believed the client over…
