The meeting wasn’t supposed to be public. They’ve since removed it. I’m not sure how to feel or what I should do. Do I bring it up to my boss? I’d like to get feedback about what she thought about it. She didn’t defend me, but she also didn’t feed into his negativity and quickly moved on. I listened to the conversation and can see the points where he’s frustrated. These issues have already been remedied by my boss and I. It’s not the first time I’ve heard him speak poorly about employees, or me. This comment just felt especially harsh.
New job Policies
Started a new job a couple weeks back and during the whole onboarding and orientation process there was no mention that you could not smoke on the property. Also I have read through the employee hand book and double checked all the policies for my current job and there is nothing stating you are not allowed to smoke. Well today I was told by a co-worker that smoking is not allowed and they have only 1 place you can smoke. Now no where on this property is a no smoking sign posted and like I have stated no one from management have told me this and it is not in the employee handbooks no where. I was just wandering, If I was to be terminated for smoking could I or could I not take any type of action against that judgement? Not looking to cause trouble at my job because…
I have had it with employers recently. I went from making a comfy $85k and am now in process of switching careers. I totally understand going in at a lower rate at the start, and I understand this profession is generally low paid- but i’ve found similar jobs with starting of $30/hour. On top of that, I did a phone interview followed by an in-person interview and got completely ghosted in January. She decided to message me 3 months later to ask if i’m still looking for a job. The initial salary she offered when I first interviewed was $27/hr. I’m annoyed as hell and finally just decided to start telling people they aren’t even paying a living wage. I live in California btw
He would give me and other managers mixed messages and I would get caught in the middle as a mid level provider. It was uncomfortable but he promised to make it all better and even put my name up in a company presentation that I was going full time in July but then next day terminated me by email bc “he just felt like it” I could have taken other opportunities but I was loyal to the work and the patients. I had the best reviews and made the most $$ of any NP that’s ever worked there Basically I feel unjustified and would like to let him have it. Can anyone help me w an idea?
I already have a job, working in IT for a big educational institution, and although I'm not paid to provide support out of hours, I have a very good working relationship with members of faculty, so I don't mind helping them if they need it. They frequently travel, and it's not always possible to speak during UK office hours. I got this random message via What'sApp earlier on – it looked for all the world like an SOS from a colleague, but no – turns out a nation-wide recruitment agency have scraped my number from somewhere and want me to consider a second job, in my spare time. WTF??! I've got a full-time job, a toddler to look after, all sorts of other commitments, why are they interrupting my holiday with this?! And why won't they take 'no thank you' as an answer?
When someone asks you “where do you work?” they are most-likely doing so as a way to get to know more about you. The problem is, what I do for a job is not a good way to get to know me. It is a boring office sales job. It does not reflect my personality or taste in any way. So how do you answer this question when you hate your job? What can I say that technically answers the question but is more indicative of who I actually am?
I've taken so many already, and when I'm asked to take a new one for a test that I've already taken, I just trash the message. Linkedin doesn't have tests for potential employees. Does any other internet job board have tests? Do potential employers not even see all of the tests that I've already taken on my indeed resume? The ones that say I'm “Highly Proficient”? It's such an annoying time waster!
Last night I was having severe throat pain and issues with swallowing as well as pretty bad shivers. I called out of work today and decided to go to urgent care who diagnosed me with strep. My doctor told me that I am considered contagious for the first 24 hours after my first dose of amoxicillin. I messaged my boss and our department telling them as much and that I wont be in tomorrow. My boss then responds with appointment information for a vaccine for himself, suggesting that my taking the day off would keep him from honoring the appointment. I understand he’d have to move plans around but we do work in a healthcare facility. The majority of my patients are older. I don’t know what to do. I feel like death and I don’t know if I’m going to be feeling any better tomorrow 🤷️
Started a job in the biotech sector and can confidently say I hate it. I wasted years working under a terrible PI in academia to get the credentials to work in the sector and my first job immediately spits in my face. I apply for a job that’s listed as having a pay range from 55k-85k depending on experience. They send me an offer letter that is $10k below what was listed, and when I point that out they claim that I’m missing some experience they wanted. When I brought this up in the interview, they said it would be no problem. Still, I conceded just so I’d have somewhere to work. All their reviews online said they had a good work life balance, which is what I care about. They lied. It wouldn’t shock me if they made fake reviews. I’ve yet to leave on time a single day.…
