I currently work in an office in some pretty rough conditions. The blinds are closed so there's no natural light and we have no privacy – not even a cubicle where we can escape being in full view. we aren't allowed to leave our desks for more than ten minutes at a time either, so it's eight hours under strip lights in exactly the same spot with your boss a couple of metres away. Really lame, but not, I suppose, the worst anyone has ever endured. There was one more thing that was bugging me about my job, too, and I've only just put my finger on it: my job doesn't help anyone. Without going into detail, it's one of those fairly abstract office gigs where you generate sales of some non-tangible product that may or may not contribute some speck of good to the world in a sort…

Manager fired me to save a girl job
I worked as a healthcare recruiter in Cynet Health Pvt Ltd. Last month I started having some cervical issues as I got in an accident 2 years ago and I have been having certain complications now due to which I had to take 5 days off last month. As a healthcare recruiter we survive on the commission of our working candidates. I have one active candidate and this another girl in our team had none since 7 month. He threatened me multiple times that he will pass on active candidate to the people who actually need it but I never paid much attention to it and continued working. My colleague was in Pip and would have been terminated this month. My manager wrote an email regarding me and got me terminated and moved my candidate to her ownership. I have been feeling low since then although I wrote a mail…
I got a new job offer from a company I felt really good about. The management just seems really chill and talked about caring about each others time as some people have kids and other life things and they end early on fridays and have 3 days WFH etc. I feel really uncomfortable. I was nervous to resign from what has been a really weird toxic codependent workplace and to be respectful I had a meeting with my boss first. In the meeting my boss offered me way more money than the new company and was like “oh that's it? you're leaving for that amount? we can pay more than that” and then guessed where I'm going (its a competitor) and when I told him he shit on the company. He said the CEO is a narcissist and the company is “widely disliked by colleagues and clients” and “its like…
My boss had a hard day at work
Yes, it is self promotion but I do think it suits the subreddit https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM2DYprA1/
Why *real* socialism will never work
Before I start, I am a socialist/communist. A Yugoslav communist, to be more precise (because I'm from there). As much as I would like socialism to succeed, here is few things you must know. Yes, you. Please read the text to the end and think carefully about this. If you consider yourself a communist, are you really? Always ask yourself when you buy various jewelry, branded clothes, the best mobile phone. But you know what, wrong, it's not all about expensive things. While reading this post, make a checklist of the things you would really be willing to do that I described below. How many bed sheets do you have in the house? 10? Why do you need so much? Why are you buying more t-shirts if you have 5 at home that are not damaged and are not too small? When you buy strawberry jam, for example, and you…
My (F50) Co-Worker recently started to boss everyone around work telling us what to do and how to do our job, most of us ignore my (F50) Co-Worker and keep doing what we do and the job gets done at the end of the day. (I've been doing this job for 2 years)(we work in a distribution center) Recently…. The problem started when (F50) Co-Worker started criticising other co-workers instead of helping solve whatever issue is going on when there is one, and when she does help she makes sure my supervisor (F 40) is around to congratulate her for such good job…. This are her functions: seats behind a desk and computer next to a walkie talkie awaiting for co-workers to call for her help regarding a location within the warehouse. She relocates products that are not supposed to be in certain locations She fills up empty locations with…
Just curious if one doesn't have to give notice especially when you are desperate to leave and dread coming back
Over time question
I just started a new job. Worked 35 hours training at $17 an hour then 10 hours at $7 and hour where I hit overtime. What rate should the OT be paid at? I’m being told at 1.5 of the $7 an hour? I live in Maine? Also I posted a few days ago about not getting the schedule I was promised. It all worked out.
Hurrah, lets all celebrate and drink a little extra tonight.
