title. several of my coworkers have mocked me for being tired as i am new (started about a month ago). they pride themselves on working far more hours than me and not being tired. my tiredness has no effect on my job. i keep up the pace and i get the job done efficiently, but my energy is drained after i have to face customers for 8+ hours a day several days a week- repeating the same 3-4 phrases consistently. i just don’t understand toxic workaholic culture and i’m very tired.

How many people use subways to get to work, daily, and get poisoned. Yet another reason not to work or to work from home. https://nypost.com/2023/05/13/subway-has-alarmingly-high-pollution-levels-study-finds/ Scientists have found “alarmingly high” concentrations of potentially toxic particles in the air in New York City subway stations. New York University researchers surveyed 271 platforms in December 2021 and found levels of airborne iron particles were a staggering 126 times more than the outdoor average, according to a paper published last month in the International Atmospheric Pollution Research journal. One study shows iron, which makes up the bulk of the air pollution on the subway, can be neurotoxic if inhaled and is linked to autism, schizophrenia, and ADHD.
Had the right side of my thyroid removed. The doctor gave me a week off work but the pain isn't too bad and I know I'll get bored at home so I might go back sooner depending on how I'm feeling. I know this is an anti work sub but just wanted to spread some positivity
This is reddit for God sake. If a business chooses blatantly to disrespect you, why choose to respect them? If we want things to get better we need to shed the fear of big corps. Now i could be absolutely wrong but as far as I'm aware, no one from reddit has been sued in a defamation case from this forum. Also to note, defamation is an extreme for a business. They actually have to prove what you said alone caused an issue with revenue and so on. 1 post on a random forum is just not enough. With that being said, shed the fear, post your business. (HCL and USAA can suck a lemon)
“Staffing Shortages” is Bull
Anybody else struggling with finding a job? I’m a college student home for the summer, and I’ve been applying to jobs for over a month and still nothing! So many businesses in my area have those passive-aggressive signs up about staffing shortages, and yet when I apply they literally never get back to me. It also doesn’t help that I don’t have a car, so I am extremely limited on where I can work. I am just SO fed up with living in a country where I need to work to afford to live but to be able to work I need access to transportation that just doesn’t exist in any practical way. And it’s not like I’m unqualified for the positions I’m applying for. How many times do I have to tell corporations I know how to use a cash register a mop floors before someone hires me? I’m…
