Ghosting me while on maternity leave

I’ve worked at my current employer since August 2022 while I was pregnant. They’re a very small startup and didn’t have a maternity policy (they still don’t) after months of asking them I was finally told I could take 12 weeks unpaid and that I wouldn’t be protected under FMLA. I started my leave in March and expected to return in June. Per guidelines for leave of absence I emailed HR and my direct supervisor of my planner date to return and if there would be a possibility of part time, it’s been a week and zero response. I’ve followed up twice and cc’d upper management on the thread. I have a feeling they’re wanting me to resign on my own which I’m not going to do, outside of the discrimination that happened before my leave do I have any recourse if they completely ghost me out?

Boss wants me to do training unpaid

Boss wants me to do unpaid CPR training. Essentially they’re claiming bc it’s not a company policy, it’s a state policy that they aren’t required to pay me the time in the training because if I leave the job I can take my CPR card with me. We have a call with HR tomorrow because I told them I’m unavailable for unpaid work. This is in Arkansas. Anyone able to help to clarify if this is legal or if I am wrong.

Time Scheduled/Cancelled Work should always be Paid

Maybe a hotter and impractical take, but I think if someone is released early from work or if their shift is cancelled it should still be paid. The individual planned to work during that time and depending on when the person is made aware of the cancellation or release from work, that time does not automatically become the individuals “free time.” For example, today I was released two hours early from my dishwashing job. While those two hours are now mine, they were affected by the fact that I planned to work during that time. It might sound petty, but time is everything for working class people and when your job affects it, in any way, it should be compensated for. However, this would likely incentivize employers to further overwork their employees by finding busywork for them for the sake of good investing. Been thinking about this for a while,…

There’s a circle in hell that’s just like being in a Slack or Teams Channel

Working through Slack or Teams is like being in a staff meeting that never ends, that staff walk in and out of at will so the same damn arguments are repeated over and over and no decisions are ever made.

These employers act like minimum wage should mean maximum effort..

I just got sat down and reprimanded like I’m a toddler because I “haven’t been moving fast enough”. I then get asked how I like the job to which I respond “it’s a job”. My manager then responds saying she has “a ton of resumes I can choose from” and then I get asked “how bad do you wanna keep this job” like their expecting me to get on my knees and beg. I didn’t really say anything other than I’d like to keep the job since it’s work. But she sits there and threatens me like there isn’t a plethora of other shitty minimum wage jobs out there. I’m just so tired of management acting all high and mighty. You pay me 10 bucks an hour you’re gonna get 10 bucks an hour of labor… not to mention I get hired as a food runner then get told I…

It’s scary to leave a job… But worth it in the end.

TLDR: Left job after 6 years got 35k per year raise. Today on year review I was given 42k in bonuses. Okay so I have been at my job for just over a year. I have been a network engineer for the last 6 years before this for a company on the Nasdaq stock market. It is a large company but not huge name brand or anything like that. I was actually in Site IT before getting a chance as a Network engineer. They took a big risk on me back then because I was very, very green. So I was paid far under market value for most of my time there. My last year there my boss at the time who was an awesome woman got me a huge bump to get me to just below average pay for my position. She made the case that she was going…

Why we should thank our asshole bosses

Story time: I had an asshole boss who constantly would criticize my work despite others saying that it was exactly what they were looking for. I also was working 60 hours a week and developed a new tool/process being used by multiple different teams. Despite all of the great work I did I was fired last Friday. However, when I was fired I had 3 job offers for better money and more time off. When I didn’t get a good performance review rather then only buckling down and work harder I took the time to apply to other jobs based on the advice of this sub and just accepted a job with 40% increase in pay. So thanks asshole boss for the severance payment and being such an asshole that it forced my to find a better paying job
