To give some context, I applied and got a temp job a few weeks ago. I'm about halfway done with it. I asked my partner what he thought about me ending my contract before a big, busy event at my temp job next week if I received another offer from another company (Company B) at the end of this week. It was mostly a hypothetical situation. Job Threatened Me if I Switched Shifts
I have been going through some changes lately and decided to move to night shift. I'm a natural night owl, I'll have more time to do things in the day, etc. I've mentioned on this sub that I have a hatred of one machine in the building (we make aerosol products for vehicles mainly). I told them after all that I went through that I WILL NOT RUN THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! I went through a lot of back and forth and got put on another machine… for now. Now that I mentioned that I wanted the second shift position, they said that they were going to make me do that machine on second shift if I moved, knowing that I hate the machine. They seriously wonder why so many people are jumping ship.
We are working in same company and have same job roles (Digital advertiser), We all are working remotely. Having same duties I'm feeling betrayed and exploited. I cannot afford to quit.

Just a vent/wanting to see who can relate, as this has got me worked up today. I started my job search in March of 2022 after completing my MBA as I was unhappy with the company I was working for. I’ve interviewed (most of them being multiple rounds) with over 25 companies since then and accepted a role in November of 2022 with the only company who has made me an offer in the last ~15 months. The pay was the same but the benefits turned out to be horrible…way worse than I expected. The company offers two health plans and they are both HDHP without an HSA. They use a TPA (third party administrator) instead of an actual insurance provider, and I cannot find any PCPs, OB/GYNs, psychiatrists, therapists, or neurologists who accept the coverage. In my previous role, I was a Senior Product Manager, and I oversaw ~1300 SKUs (print and digital) with 55,000 active subscribers and ~$55mil of direct revenue. So, I got into a confrontation with my boss today and said I was gonna leave. As soon as I left, boss kicks me from all the group chats and asked me for my “final” hours (BTW they've made me keep my own payroll hours recorded myself). I messaged a co-worker saying sorry I kinda left them hanging and that I was pretty sure I was fired. Well co-worker went straight to boss with what I said and they're now saying I quit and asking me if I'm coming in for my scheduled shifts. I've never said the words quit and when I left it was actually my scheduled time to go anyway (I just didn't ask to go). Sick days? What are those?
I work at -megacorp- and they've officially done away with sick days. They've been merged into our PTO. Since I'm a new hire, I don't get PTO until September and I've been here for about two months now. If I have a doctor's appointment, or have any official need for anything related to time off, I have to take the “occurance”. Once we hit five occurances the disciplinary process starts. My only option is to open a case with an associated company to process my absences as either FMLA or ADA protected absences. Since I haven't started this process, I have no idea how difficult it is to get my doctor's visits classified in a certain way to meet that criteria. Furthermore, we don't even know if our absences are protected by FMLA or ADA until we hit 5 absences and the disciplinary process starts. (The absences are rescinded if…
How can I make money without a 9-5
Long story short I’ve been applying to jobs to try and move to a city (Chicago) for about 1.5 years. Current job is in person in person in a small town (Kansas City) and I’m trying to move somewhere with opportunity. The hiring process has been such a shit show I’m at the point where I have signed a lease in Chicago and I’m going to move without a job because I’m mentally dying in my small town. Right now I trade stocks + a discord and am making somewhat decent money from it, but I would like something else to both fill up my time and my wallet. Any suggestions? I’ve considered real estate but the market is horrible now Been applying to account executive/associate roles, 0-3 years experience. Marketing, advertising, sales.
