He more often thinks of what he can get from his employees even though they are mostly below the poverty line and he owns so many properties in so many states that he has little need to be financially unjust (Scrooge McDuck). I once emailed him about mold in a property. He called me angrily right after and threatened to fire me. Lately he has hinted I'm not to email him about any pay I make or any agreements or injuries on the job. He calls them “long emails”. Saying, “I've told you I do not appreciate you writing long emails like this yet you insist on doing it!” This said by call as the actual reply to the email only says, “as per our phone call I do not agree with much of what you said.” To which I replied, “I'm sorry boss. My job is very important to…
I work for a cannabis company. I have spent the past three weeks rebuilding an entire distillation lab in a room that was previously full of junk. I spent the first week, cleaning out the junk. The second week, installing the equipment. And the third week was mostly waiting around on electricians and cleaning glassware. I did this by myself, nobody bothered to help me clean or move anything. In the middle of the rebuild, they decide they want to buy a new benchtop distillation kit. They told me to stop setting everything up and work on that. So I spent 3 days doing that. All the while I have two bosses hounding me, “Why isn't this done sooner?”, “Where are we going to put all this junk?”, “We need more product.” So I get everything set up finally. A day ahead of the newly imposed deadline. I come in…
I was interviewing for a management position yesterday and the recruiter asked me what was the biggest challenge in my previous job, to which I replied -“the low pay” She chuckled. Eventually it cued into “we will give you a call back next week if you make it into the next round of interviews” I’m excited guys. I think I’m finally busting ! Edit: Forgot to type in. Please share your best interview stories and moments ! Let’s all basque and show appreciation for the recruiting staff they are always very friendly, honest and selfless!
Suggest a new career for me?
I don't like what I do for a living anymore. I think I'm way too alternative for a “normal” job, but I am at a loss for what I could turn to. If you had to guess, what do you think I work with? And what could I do instead?
So it seems that the company I work at is unable to believe that fact that some people just don't want to hang out with co-workers. They are doing everything they can to get people to come together. It seems like most of the team is on board though, but I'm not. If you say, you can't go, they will reschedule the entire event for you. Now they are scheduling happy hours during work hours (paid by them), how do I avoid this? This is a remote job. How do I say I can't go, but technically its during work hours so I should be available. How do I get out of this?
Being punished for Memorial Day
Tldr: my company wants us to work on the weekend to make up for not working on memorial day, am I crazy for thinking this is weird? Let me start off saying I currently work 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts. I didn't realize Monday was a holiday until they were talking about it today. Ar first I was excited for a 4 day weekend until they said to make up for it we will be working next Friday. Am I crazy for thinking this is weird? I talked with my coworkers about this and they made it sound like it wasn't unusual. It just feels like if we were work 5 days a week we wouldn't have to make up that day on Saturday? Plus it really throws my personal schedule out of wack since I usually have plans with friends on Fridays. Honestly I probably will be…
