Category: Antiwork
This is long and there's a lot more to unpack so please bear with me… I work in a Fuel Center Booth outside a grocery store with 5 other people. 4 of us being the main workers. Our manager being our Brains and the other worker being our Funny Bone while the guy who had been there the longest that trained us was our Heart. May 5th, I got asked to come into work for Heart's shift. I assumed Heart was covering for Brain since Brain's Grandpa is on his deathbed. When I got to work and saw Brain's car there I assumed Heart had called out again making a joke to my ride (cousin) saying, “Ooh he must've called out again! I'm going to beat his ass next time I see him.” To find out later I would never see him again. I get in and ask Brain how…
That's it. That's the post.
A 20 Year Old Who Can’t Find A Job
I’m 20 years old and haven’t been able to find a goddamn job since graduating high school last year in January 2022. I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff online about hiring managers fucking hating my generation (z) and at first I thought it was bullshit. But now I’m starting to believe it. I live in a small town in NY where a lot of people know each other. So I’d assume that trying to apply for the small mom & pop shop down the street I’d been going to since I was a kid and all the staff knew me would hire me.. nope, turns out they go through a goddamn hiring company. I’ve tried applying to fast food, Walmart, Dunkin, and other places that are supposedly “easy” to get hired. No rejection letters no nothing. I’m assuming the issues that are keeping me from being hired are back…
I'm looking to get out of a toxic work situation. I got hired around 2021, during that time I was never asked for wage desire. Cue this week, two people from two different companies asked me, I answered the first person. The second person asked and I said “it depends on the position”. I think I shocked her, because she started backpedaling, tried to tell me about putting me in a different position than I applied for. With her finally telling me in alot of unnecssary words, not to bother. Btw I'm in NYS if that matters. The wage range was posted in the job description. Edit. Added a sentence
Time off for Job Interviews
I'm mostly out of sick time and need 2 days (or at least 1 or 2 half days) to take time off for job interviews. I'm moving far along with 2 companies that are both interested in me. I have personal days and floating holidays I could use but I'm not sure what to say to my manager/boss. I have been told that my sick time taken was excessive, but I got the stomach flu and covid a couple months apart so fuck em. It was a hard time. Thoughts on what to say?
Hello everyone I wasn’t sure if this belonged here but I just feel like I needed Reddit’s input on the situation. So I work/worked for an IFT ambulance company in California for about 4 years. Every year or so we need to get a physical that’s required by the DMV which goes by the name “DL-51.” I’ve never had a problem in the past but this time around made me feel uneasy and somewhat discriminated and stereotyped(mainly because I look like a hippie.) While at the facility I’m supposed to fill out a few forms regarding my health history. There was a question on there regarding marijuana use which I had marked non user. The doctor evaluating me started asking me personal questions and asked if I use marijuana. I said I did when I was younger but not anymore. He goes on to request a rapid test which I…
job application assessments
i've been applying for jobs almost all day and i've been getting automatic emails asking me to complete assessments. this is so annoying. has anyone else noticed more of these popping up or is it just my area? i used to have to complete maybe one for 10+ job applications but i've had to do like four of them just today. i'm not even looking for anything fancy either, just receptionist type office jobs
