Worked at a job I was unqualified for, for a while to learn a good skill even if the job sucked. Learned that skill, and went out to the job market with it. Walked out or hung up on so many interviews because of all the red flags I have learned from this sub. My top 10 red flags from 76 interviews over 3 months. Being required to fill out an app after sending a resume Interviewer late to interview Wage different than advertised Car quality disparity in the parking lot “We're a family company” more than once in an interview process Everyone wears a lot of hats Work hard play harder ANY political commentary anywhere along the process Religious owners Pizza Parties being advertised as a benefit. I have to say, the looks on their faces when I just politely got up, said no thank you and walked out.…

Hey all, I just wanted to get some other opinions on a situation currently happening at work. For background, I currently work for a major cell phone carrier in the US. About a month ago I interviewed for another position at a completely different company that is starting me at roughly 3x the salary plus way more benefits. I have an in with a relative at this new company so I knew it would only be a matter of time before I got the job offer so I let my current manager know that sometime soon I would be putting in my two weeks, but that I want to use my remaining week of PTO a week after my official last day in store as this company does not automatically pay out PTO when you leave even though it's earned/accrued PTO. Last week my manager got into a motorcycle accident…

Group benefits are BS (canada)
So, my boyfriend works at a place that has group benefits, they kinda suck but better than nothing. Recently, to save money, this greatly expanding company changed the benefits so that life insurance & the extended health care (dental, drugs, etc) are connected. In order to get on my boyfriend's benefits, I had to fill out a bunch of stuff out that shouldn't matter for extended but does for life. I got declined due to “my metabolic risk factor” & therefore, I got nothing. No dental, no drug coverage, no chiropractic or massage, no vision care, etc. Apparently, I'm too fat for dental coverage. This pisses me off so much. Either have benefits or don't. I know many don't get health coverage at all so I know this rant probably seems like a privileged person whining but I'm sick of this. My Dr isn't concerned even WITH my paternal grandfather's…
More just curious what everyone thinks. For me, I think it's about the same, since big tycooners like Elon or Jeffery just come down to compound luck more than anything. But I'm curious what you all think. Are there sure thing wins people can do to escape work when they get a big inheritance/gift of Jeffery levels at around 400k? (edit) – and if there is an ideal way to spend it, are people who spend it on drugs or cars bad?
