I just got medically separated from the Navy in February after serving 6 years as a Helicopter Mechanic. I was living in San Diego when I got out but I got a job as a Maintenance Technician for a hospital in Dallas TX. I accepted the Job because I needed one in order to move, and get an apartment in Dallas. They only offered me $19.59 a hour but I just needed a job so I took it. The job consists of HVAC, plumbing, electric, and many other various task. I moved here by myself first to start the job, and I later got the apartment. I recently flew back to San Diego to drive my wife and daughter here to Dallas. I like the Job, but at times I feel like I’m just being used. I work hard, and get things done right away. I fix any trouble tickets…

Working their way outward
For the past few months I've been looking for a better position. Recruiters have been calling/texting basically every day. I noticed something funny. Two jobs ago I worked for a terrible company; they treated me badly, paid poorly, and eventually fired me illegally after I was injured due to their negligence. A few months ago this same company lost their main contract (due to management's short-term, short-sighted decisions) and is thus shrinking pretty substantially. In spite of this, they cannot keep enough people and are hiring however they can (other than offering good pay/benefits/work environment of course). It started with the recruiters near them, I turned them down. Then it was the recruiters near me, I turned them down. Then it was the recruiters in Milwaukee (1.5 hours away), then in Chicago (2.5 hours away). Today it was a recruiter in Ohio (8 hours away). It seems they are just…
Urgently hiring my ass
I don't understand why most of the places around my area that are “urgently hiring” never respond to any of my applications when I so do need a job. This is even worse when EVERYBODY is pressuring me to get one, for context I haven't worked in over two years after moving into a new place 30 miles away from my old hometown. I've been living off of my father ever since. For the record, I find it embarrassing. At this point in time, I SHOULD have found a job by now. But how am I supposed to when nobody responds to my applications? I have: a coverletter, resume, and all the contact info in the world. How is it my fault that I am 20 years old with only fast food experience and want to learn a new skillset?!?! It's honestly annoying as shit, what the fuck is it…
Like if I was a billionaire, I would totally buy homes for the homeslless and rehabilate them. I would be well known for something like that. It would be far more meaningful to me than buying another jet or yacht right? Am I crazy for thinking this way?
I applied to a very large company for a WFH position. I really had my fingers crossed for this one since I didn’t want to go back into the office after maternity. I got an email that they decided to go with another candidate. Fair enough. Within hours I get a call from an agency offering me the same position with the same company for less money and no benefits. WTF.
Saw this on a job listing on Linkedin
I turned in a resignation effective immediate after a manager lost self control and berated me over the phone in front of customers and a delivery man. I was cashiering at the time and he was in the office. There were so many other incidents prior to this. He would make inappropriate comments about domestic violence against his spouse. Mentioned to several associates besides myself that he was only married to her for tax break purposes. He would stand directly behind cashiers without commenting, training or coaching being done, just intimidating/making us feel creeped up on. Mind you the distance he’s standing behind us is less than two feet. So whenever we had to bend down to get larger bags or other supplies he was directly behind us. He asked me to go attend a furniture/rug call. He said “Haven’t you heard they’re calling for assistance in big ticket?” I…
