Absolutely can not stand resume parsing and how awful of a job it does 90% of the time. Why can't they just look at my resume that I took time to write up?

go to college for how much?
Long story short, I was part of a (failed/unionbusted) union organizing campaign 1.5 years ago and my manager has just started to give me insanely harsh and financially consequential warnings and write ups for petty shit after years of never being in “trouble” once. So recently our company hired this hot shot HR lady and I told her I wanted to meet about recent disciplinary actions that have been taken against me. I’m not stupid enough to think that she will sympathize or take my side at all, but I’m very curious to clues as to whether this is a systemic targeting campaign to get rid of me or keep me on my toes at all times, or if my boss is just making power moves. Any remotely intelligent company admin should look at these write ups and see them as a direct reflection of poor leadership by the manager,…
How is that possible?
I work in a field that requires me to drive to locations and work on machines, which requires internal schooling. We had a town town hall this morning where they discussed a strict end to overtime. During the meeting someone was granted permission to speak during Q&A time, they went on to declare that they would happily do this job for minimum wage. Another question was answered about benefits, when another person spoke about “being understanding” for the pay-cuts that may happen at the end of the month. While I'm checking the titles of the people who are trying to start the pay-cut hype train my boss gets speaking permissions and says “If you two Regional Service Directors want to work for minimum wage that's fine, you don't pay tech enough now, if my team isn't getting raises this year we won't be completing calls. I'm in charge of the…
I work in schools and am unpaid for the summer, so I wanted to pick up a part-time summer gig. My husband and I were chit-chatting at a local place and they were mentioning that they were hiring but weren't getting applicants. That evening I started an application. They started by needing a copy of a resume, which was fine. Then they wanted a cover letter. It actually wasn't required, so I skipped it. What would it even say? “It is with great enthusiasm that I apply for this front-desk job! I am eager to answer phones for a few hours a week.” Then they required references in order to complete the application. Being that it's not related to my career, I did not want to bother my colleagues for this part-time, seasonal job. For the first reference: I entered the name of a friend, and dug up her phone…
Yes there is a working class, yes there is a middle class. You can 4 classes or 6 classes and they will all have needs. But it doesn't do anyone any favors to keep pretending that there are not two distinct groups in the world: those who produce and those who siphon off their productivity for themselves. There is wealth inequality amongst the productive class but they are all using their labor to general value. Service workers and doctors may have wildly different incomes on a micro level, but they are both producing value for society. Hell, even some politicians are producing value when they actually govern and enhance productivity. These people are distinct from an entire parasite class of individuals born into wealth, whose entire purpose is to extract as much value from the labor of thriving productive part of society and take all that value away from productive…
