Hi there. IT worker here. Nearly finished an internship, over a year, finish in august (thank god) Have personal problems due to growing up. Leads to poor work concentration and performance Most of the time work sets me off. Sitting in the office every day trying to act busy doesn’t help. Due to this I keep making the same mistakes over and over and my boss can’t wait for me to leave. Not surprised really Everyone else here works 2 days in the office and the rest remote, I asked if I could do the same but I guess they wanted a student they could pay cheaper to sit in the office everyday After this I’m looking for remote work. Or atleast a hybrid job. Do you think jobs will stay this way? I think IT jobs will but unsure Thanks

I work at a Sam’s Club and we have this quarterly bonus as incentive to actually try. The better we do the more it’s worth. Our scores have been the best that they’ve been since I’ve worked here which would range our share from 250-50, but it only ended up being 38 dollars because they bought the fucking Denver broncos or whatever team it was and our managers made it lower than other stores (store wide issue) by decorating and putting food in the break room using our money. It’s utterly ridiculous and honestly has left me drained
I work in Canada for an American company, so I'm on a time difference. Some days I start early, but America is still “sleeping” when it's my early days. Business and phones don't start ringing till around 11-12pm for me on those days. I get paid hourly… Shit ass pay. Can barely cover my rent. So on these early days I just… Clock in… Make a coffee… And relax for 1.5 on the couch, making sure my work computer volume is up high on the off chance someone is trying to get a hold of me this early. No idea if my boss knows I do this. No idea if they have any techy thing where they can see how much my mouse moves and shit but I've been doing this for over a year and I haven't been talked to about it yet so… I'm going to keep doing…
“You’re not flexible”
I work 4 different type of shifts. Early, day, late and nightshifts. I work weekends and official holiday days (Christmas, easter etc etc.) We are obligated to make our schedule 2 months in advance. Then they can still make changes to it for two weeks. Pretty flexible right? Nope, because management can’t find new employees they expect us to last minute change 4 – 5 shifts around. They can F*** off. I feel like working shifts, weekends and holidays is flexible enough. Ps: all our shifts, so for example morning shift start and end at different times too. So 7:30-15:30 / 7:00-15:00 / 7:00 – 15:30 , same applies to late and night shifts. Confusing yea? And then telling us we’re not flexible enough.
My “Raise” was just getting more hours…
Worked part time for almost 3 years. 30 hours a week at $25/hour. (15 years total experience for what I do) Part time was great because I have 2 young children, made life easier. Plus my job was fairly easy. Boss/Owner talked to me about promotion. More responsibility, duties, and management. Although I would be essentially doing the same thing, my workload was going to get bigger. I looked up what the going rate range was for a salaried position doing what I do and it was quite large. $60k-$100k. Since I haven't worked full time since before my oldest was born, I'd be happy taking $60k. I asked for $60k salary and I stay remote, no health benefits as my husband's job takes care of that.”That's a big jump.” According to my boss. “If you came into the office, I could MAYBE give you $60k…but the best I can…
So my dad is getting laid off
And it couldn’t be a worse time for it to happen. Backstory: the last few months, my brother has been in the hospital because he had the flu and suffered from severe complications, resulting in a stroke, endocarditis, and quite literally almost died. A ton of stuff and you can read about it in my post history. However, this is relevant because my parents both work in the medical field and my dad specifically has worked at a private Dr. office for almost 20 years. This man has not once asked for a raise, never taken a day off of work even when he was sick, and has been a loyal employee since he started working. He went to work after breaking 6 ribs and went to the ER after his shift. He had a major surgery a couple years ago and went septic and didn’t realize till also, after…
I’m getting old. Arguably, I’ve just finished going through second puberty (I don’t care, it’s a thing). One of the things I’ve developed in that time, is an appreciation for life and doing good. Locally, there aren’t any decent paying positions (worthy of affording a home) that don’t somehow generate revenue off some kind of detrimental treatment of life. Be it killing bugs/critters or supporting the bad habits of people; I just am having a really hard time finding finding something that will let me succeed in life while also supporting positive change or respecting my ethics. What are some people doing which allows them a secure life, and also respects positivity and prosperity?
That One Invincible Co-Worker
I can't stand having that one co-worker who seems to always find a way to avoid any trouble. I work in a very small medical office. I have one now, I'll call her Sarah. Sarah is put on a special project, but is also supposed to work the phones if we get overwhelmed. Instead, Sarah wanders off randomly for long periods of time, spends a good portion of her day hanging out in the overworked supervisors office, and generally is just a nuisance. Sarah also often makes critical errors. We were incredibly short handed yesterday and she was supposed to cover my lunch, and then I'd cover hers. Instead she waited a few minutes after I left and then went to lunch, so there was no coverage. Sarah will randomly just start crying throughout the day, or randomly cackling like a witch at everything. She takes no responsibility for anything…
