As some of you may have heard, there was an active shooter situation in midtown Atlanta last week. I was caught outside when it occurred and had to shelter in place at a nearby restaurant. Once the situation was over, I returned to work and my boss asked me if I could “make up for lost time”.

(reposted this on a throwaway account) So basically I am in college and just moved back to my hometown which is an hour and 30 min away from the college town. I recently got a student worker position at a company in the college town, with the verbal agreement early on that I would be allowed to work remote 1/2 days each week in the summer since it’s a 3 hour round trip each time I have to work in office (Also since it is a student position I am only allowed to work up to 20 hrs/week). However, now they are not asking but telling me I have to work 3 days a week in office instead of being able to work remote, and That is 9 hours a week on top of 20 hours working that I would be stuck in the car driving back and forth. My workplace has taken to dividing us into teams to make “cleaning more colabarative and enjoyable” and has forced me to come up with a team name and flag. I detest the concept. One of the teams has decided to call themselves Employees of the Month but I want something funny. Any type of humour works, bonus points if it takes the piss out of the system.
