I’m currently sitting in my corner cubicle setup doing absolutely nothing. For reference, I am in a co-op position and I am paid decently well considering just attending my college was enough experience to be hired in a co-op position. The upside is that I have full control over when I come in, how many hours I work (within reason) and I even have the opportunity to work from home if needed. Back to the doing nothing part, I don’t do absolutely nothing, I just get my work done as needed. The unique position I am in surrounds me with coworkers that I share about 10% common work with. Other than that, I am the only person in the office that works on what I work on. All of my training has come through old instruction documents and virtual meetings with people that aren’t even in the same country teaching…
Category: Antiwork
Me and my team were invited by my boss to go to another country for four days for a meeting in person with the other country's team. The thing is, the meeting is not important and they always go on these “work trips” to have fun in the country (go to parties and drink every day). I have no interest at all in hanging out with them, so I need an excuse for not being able to go. *It isn't in the contract that I have to go on business trips, and the date is chosen randomly *I don't want to confront my boss or make a bad impression
My boss had some serious audacity today
One of our directors – his wife just got out of the hospital. My boss (his subordinate) came in and asked all of us to donate to this guy's wife. She doesn't even work with us. Staff get paid once a month..and payday isn't until later this week. Most of us are flat broke. So out of touch.
Had us in the first half not gonna lie
Psychedelics is the answer!
Can HR require me to provide newborns birth certificate? We get insurance through spouses employer, months after I come back to work HR wants birth certificate and information that I previously considered to be personal health information(I work in healthcare billing). My mid wife said I don't have to provide any additional information but also that she's not sure if the laws differ state to state. Any general information or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.
Company Tracks Me
So I travel for a living. A few months after joining a company they give me a “clock in/out” app. I’m salaried but I was like whatever. I found out when I hit clock in, it allows them to track my position. Is there a workaround for this so I could still do their bs clocking in without them knowing my life when I’m not traveling? I’m on iOS fyi.
I’m feeling especially beside myself today because of a slow day at work… The Phone Repair Industry is dying. The sales industry has a chokehold on the repair industry because they’re convincing people it’s better to spend $600-$700 on new phones rather than getting them fixed. So they get looped into this contract with insurance that gets voided if they bring it to someone else for repair. I fear that I won’t have a job in another year… I’ve been sitting at work for almost 3 hours without a single customer. 2 summers ago, this place had a line out the door… my hours have gotten cut and my weekends were taken away so there goes overtime and weekend commissions which were 1.5x normal commission rates. I hate just sitting here on my ass doing nothing but scrolling on my phone and cleaning the store. I hope this Electricians apprenticeship…
