I never thought I would see the day that a fast food restaurant would offer that much money, not in my lifetime at least. And I think it's awesome that they're offering such a high amount over minimum wage. But back when I was working 9:00 to 5:00, over the course of a healthcare career that spanned over a decade and included a stint in managing a practice, I never even made close to that. I regret working so hard for all that time, and the stress, anxiety, insomnia, and ulcer than I got from doing it. It gave me some hope for the future but also made me feel very bitter.
Rent is ridiculous
I don't know how anyone can reasonably afford rent, with rent being so expensive and other nessesities being just as bad I have no idea how I can feeisably even move out. And I'm most weeks doing over time at my current job
My team was hired during the pandemic. Since then, some have moved out of our immediate area. My company has decided to move to a hybrid schedule. I am going to be required to go on a hybrid schedule, and I'm ok with that, but my team should not. They are high functioning and a overall fantastic team. I need a plan to to convince HR to allow them to stay remote. Totally open to suggestions.
With a media that only reports on labour issues from the employer’s perspective, ignoring the facts entirely comes naturally. Employers make-up reasons all the time to not pay you and no one is calling them thieves when they do it. Where is the headline about the atrocities committed in the service industry? Tip confiscation, unpaid hours, unpaid overtime, sexist policies, and I could go on.
Work ethic. Just another slave collar.
Rant about boomer parents
Honestly, most of the time I feel out of place here. I'm a millennial, one that's been quite lucky in life. One could say privileged, but really, it's all been dumb luck. I have a great job, wife has a great job (both W2 corporate jobs, frontline, non management, so no hate please), and in general live a (mostly) frugal but enjoyable life with several kids. My kids are why I'm actually subbed to antiwork – things are going well for me personally, but I have definite concerns for my kid's futures… My parents… well, they are the typical boomers. I love them, enjoy spending time with them, but sometimes… talking to them is frustrating. Right wing political advocates. Normally we don't talk politics, which lets us all get along great. They came over today. Not unusual, every few weeks they stop by after they go to church. Everything is…
