I honestly don’t know where this situation is going but I’m literally starting to get anxiety for the future. Everything is going up in price year after year with no good justification. Businesses will use minuscule wage raises to justify price hikes what simply don’t add up. Don’t you think that if a business uses raises as an excuse to raise prices, there should be some kind of law that holds them accountable and prevents them from profiting from these raises? Like they should give ALL the excess profits to their workers or bring the prices back down if their charge ups bring more in that what they projected? Why are there so little consumer protections? Weird Opportunity for Another Ally
I had the weirdest experience and I've realized it's a potential opportunity to gain an ally for the overall movement. I had to go to the bank and was directed to someone in a little cubicle. While handling things I made a comment that they asked me to expand upon; they dropped a very subtle comment back about not exactly enjoying working for the bank. Within the context of some technical and career questions, I slipped in comments of my background working with (basically) financial data and used that to expand on: the productivity-wage gap; how we were supposed to be a society that worked only three or four days a week; how several surprising figures were actually pro Union but had that history forgotten (a bank worker was listening to me talk about UNIONS!!); how business was different before the 1970s and how it radically changed; etc. I have…

There's a chalk sign at the brewery I work at that says “The workers that built the great pyramids were paid in beer” Today, at a meeting before the shift I brought it up and said “The workers who built the great pyramids were also… literal slaves” My coworkers appreciated it.
