Earlier this week I was fired by my job of 2 1/2 years within 45 minutes of suffering an injury that required workers comp. I got the call while sitting in the urgent care waiting room. They claimed that my history of “multiple workplace injuries” makes me too much of a “liability.” Not even getting into the fact that my “multiple injuries” aren’t atypical given the line of work and the fact that this workplace blatantly disregards OSHA regulations at every turn, this is an illegal reason to fire someone, even in an employment-at-will state like mine. Nevertheless, I’ve been rejected by multiple employment law firms and even the state department of labor has yet to respond to my inquiry about filing a REDA complaint. The decision to fire me was made by one person at the head of the company and nobody was allowed to disagree with it. People…

I work in a high end “boujie” boutique and deal with entitled rich airheads on a daily basis; but my most recent encounter I find kind of hilarious and wanted to share with y'all. Recently, I had a customer call to complain that her online order of a jumpsuit. It had creases in it from being folded.. which she found to be just such an injustice to her that we dare fold clothes to get it shipped? She was genuinely super upset about it and notified me that she would be sending it back because it was folded. And I was like okay like go ahead? She truly wanted me to apologize that we had to fold her clothes into a box to send to her. At the end of the phone call, she said she called to “just let me know”. I really hate types to do this because…

So I've been working at this company for 2 years now and I thought my raises were pretty good. I went from 15.50 to 17.00, but then I realized another coworker who's been working there for a good 5 years or so is only making 18.00 so 3 year gap and I'm already a dollar behind THEN we lost 2 people so I decided to snoop and see what beginning wage is and it's currently 17-18 dollars so NOW I no longer see that I have gotten a raise. It seems more like they're just raising to match new hires which is cool and all except in previous jobs they were upfront and would explain they're raising me to their current minimum THEN tack on whatever they raised me at so I'm extremely confused as to how this system works. Why work hard when somebody new is going to be…
Last paycheck.
My husband's job didn't pay him his last paycheck. We had a baby a little over a month ago and he needed a day off for an appointment. The next day when he got to work he was told to go home. That if he needed the money that bad he would've been there the day before. His employer has always been like that. If he's in a bad mood he'll go after anyone who's in his way that day. After that he started to look for a new job. Well he found one and left. He went to pick up his last check yesterday and was told it was sent out. They dont usually send out last checks. In fact they have previous employees checks still sitting there. His employer did it specifically to hurt him. We live paycheck to paycheck. Most of our bills were due yesterday and…
Id Schedule an Interview With Them ASAP
As a hiring manager I’d schedule this person for an interview ASAP, this is the no bullshit honesty every company needs.
So I work in a retail chain in Australia. The chain has two stores in the shopping centre. I work in the store downstairs. The other day, someone from upstairs comes downstairs to heat up their lunch (they don’t have a microwave). She’s venting because on the action plan, she’s had an extra 1.5 hours added to her shift, without being asked. I said that she should check her payslip and make sure she gets overtime. I didn’t know at the time, but she’s casual, so isn’t entitled to overtime (I’m part time). She went back upstairs and asked her boss about overtime and said that I told her she was entitled to it. Her boss called my boss, and I basically got a verbal warning and told I shouldn’t discuss things like that. Maybe I shouldn’t have told her, but how was I supposed to know she’s casual? Why…
