This comes from where I used to live in NY. The kicker, even after doing the shady stuff, they got nothing but food from a below average diner and some toiletries probably bought at a Dollar Store.
Starting Unions
Anyone here who could give useful tips or advice for starting a union? My wife works at a hospital and conditions have recently gotten more dangerous and people have been quitting from her department. Online says a union must be 30% of a company. Does that mean of her department or the entire hospital? I also googled nearby unions and union reps but came up empty handed. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated
Not sure if this is the right sub but here goes. So I left my previous job 3 months ago (currently working for a new and better company). Yesterday, the operations director called me and ask if I can do freelance work for them because my replacement is “useless”. Back Story: I worked in that company for three years. Even if the boss was moody, he was generally fine. I like my job. I know this is antiwork sub but I just like what I do. It's always the management or boss that sucks. For anyone that's curious, I'm a web developer. I like programming. Anyway, this boss eventually realize that I can pretty much do any kind of website that the client wants so he started accepting more website work and always suggest to clients these unique features. I don't mind. I have a software engineering background and…
Screw this.
Recently moved and took a job as an electrician apprentice in commercial construction. I was looking for some more stability and leading a more “normal” life. I’ve never been more depressed and anxiety is at an all time high. I was previously self employed as a coffee shop owner and roaster since 2020. I’m going to reopen my coffee shop again soon and I’ll find a way to make it work. Fuck this working for somebody else bullshit. Unless I work 60 hours, I’m still broke as hell and I’m barely surviving a 40 hr work week. If I’m gonna still be broke, I’d rather do it on my own terms 🤙🤣
A little background, I work in a bank for 4 years now and primarily championing the digital transformation agenda of the bank to small medium business customers. The last 4 years were great in a sense that I get to experience corporate culture and all (I came from a tech startup and SMB background) and reason I joined the bank back then was they were looking for tech people to spearhead all these digitalisation programmes. Now that COVID pretty much sped up SMBs digital adoption and ESG is the next hottest topic, the Bank sort of jumped on that bandwagon as well with the Digitalisation story being deemed “boring”. My performance review has been positive the last 4 years but I have not been given any promotions and my increment were mere 3-4% each year, which is by the banking standard according to industry peers. Even when the HOD role…
Title. In the job ad i applied to the job said 4 days and now i’m being made to work 5 days a week from 9-8. is this common?
WFH part time decent jobs ???
I don't know if this is the correct place to ask. I'm tired of being tied to wherever I work, waiting my whole life for 2 fucking weeks of freedom where I can go away. I was studying UX design but people are being a bit negative towards the future of the profession with the AI and a lot of newbies trying to get in. I don't want to chase something that's not gonna happen, I'm already working 30hrs/week and I need to make most of my free time to actually get out of this loop. I have double north american / spanish nationality so the plan is to work part time for a NA company and live in Spain. At least I'll have enough money to survive / save a bit and travel and live life a bit idk. What advice do you have??
