So for context, I work remotely for my boss, managing the backend of his business, doing days analysis, etc. Recently, he decided to lay off two employees without warning. One of them is my good friend who is married with two kids and he is suddenly left without work. My boss asked me to write letters notifying them of the lay off and make sure to mention there is no severance package offered (since we are in an at will state). I really don't want to write the letter but this is currently my only job and I'm looking for others. I worked at this place for years and finally left last fall. Today I heard from friends who still work there that they suddenly announced that the paychecks that were supposed to land in their accounts TOMORROW aren't happening because the company is out of money. But they're not folding the company and letting everyone go… they just sort of expect everyone to be cool with the fact that the last two weeks have been unpaid, and that they won't be paid until who knows when?
