That’s how my company announced 90 people getting fired last week. Along with another program offering 670 early retirement packages that you have 10 days to accept or decline. They promise if you don’t take it you also won’t be “involuntarily separated” in the l future. Thankfully, my friends and I are all in the Union and they legally can’t ask us or fire us with our cause. One of my coworkers supervisor was “offered” it. He’s only 55 and at 60, when he wanted to retire he would have 30 years so his pension would have been pretty good. But if he accepts the buyout, he’ll lose out.

I'm exploring a career change. I've always worked in education, but it's kind of a dead-end income wise. Thought I'd like to start over working in the industry. I'll start with some background first about how this all started: Due to politics and bigoted Ideology of my Boss I was fired by him around a month back and had to cancel plans to treat my daughter (who's trans) and had to find a new job and other methods to help them. In fact the whole issue was he already knew beforehand about my daughter, but he was just waiting for an excuse to snap and did so, all because of his delusions that I would rather not go over, bottom-line he was just a bigot (and sadly some people here were too when that thread went up) who also made horrible racist outbursts, which I did record. Against concerns, I decided to send part of what I had recorded anyway to HQ, which originally and after…
Sending this message as I am currently involved in a stressful situation at my job and am preparing to email HR for help. To be continued.
Its hard to train machines to do so many of the tasks that are physically required of humans. Its easier to just make a strict system of AI and laws to keep people working. I know this is nothing new but people are worried about the wrong things when it comes to AI. We won't get replaced and put on universal basic income. We'll be streamlined into manual and crappy bottom rug jobs
