I showed up to an interview today at McDonalds (money's tight and I have bills due at the end of the month). I'd scheduled the interview yesterday, and the location was nearby (within walking distance). I got there 15 minutes early, dressed in business casual. Got something to drink, and when my drink was ready and told the employee there that I had an interview at 2. Her: “Oh. Well I know that you're supposed to have an interview today, but we're no longer hiring since we hired two people yesterday.” FML, I can't seem to find a job anywhere. Applied to at least a hundred jobs this week, and every interview I've had I've either been stood up (cough cough Wendys) or haven't been contacted again.

Can someone explain this sub to me?
I don't like work more than anyone else, I just want to understand what the proposed solution is to somehow eliminate it from society. It's absurd. In fact the less people that work the harder the burden is on the ones that do.
This is going to be quite long. I'm a work-from-home crisis counselor and have been in this job for over a year. I handle both calls and texts, mostly from drug and gambling addicts. My job boils down to assessing callers and giving them referrals. Initially, I was very excited to finally have a job that involved what I went to college for. However, I am now jaded. The job is very hands-off yet extremely critical of counselors at the same time. My supervisor literally disappeared for six months (we all thought she had quit). During that time, I had no supervision. Then, she reappeared out of the blue and asked me with a straight face why my quality had dipped during that time. The Quality Improvement people are the worst. They set you up to fail. They expect you to ask a million personal questions before you can offer…
What if you got fired
Is it bad that I day dream about being fired, so the stress of my job would be off my shoulders? Anyway if you got fired what would be your next steps? Finally take that fat dump on your boss's desk? Ask for proof of firing for unemployment? Take a single day to recoup then start applying for a new job? What is your plan for your hypothetical firing?
(I’m not super sure this fits the antiwork sub) I (F, early 20s) work in an office. One of the most senior members of staff (M, around late 50s / early 60s) makes me really uncomfortable. Every time I walk past him, he stares at my breasts. Not just a glance, a glance would be fine, I think it’s normal to have an occasionally glance. He stares for notably longer than is comfortable, and his eyes legitimately widen when he’s staring. However, when I am wearing a thick, oversized jumper that is so boxy that you cannot see any shape to my body, he barely ever looks at me when I walk by. Even if we speak, he barely looks at me at all. But as soon as I lose the jumper? Completely stares at my breasts, pretty much every single time. For context, he sits on a desk very…
People pay half their income to rent so that another man can fly on vacation with this money or get himself another nice car. Not everyone can afford to own a home but isn’t it ridiculous to pay off someone else’s investment instead of leaving this damn system? Option would be: -Live in a tent or in a car (if the country has warm temperatures) -Move to a very cheap country, get an online income and rent a place for only a small fraction of your income Especially for single men in western countries this high rental shit has become absolutely ridiculous.
After going broke and trying to get through a strong bout of depression, I was hired in a new role that genuinely makes me happy. I went through it with my last company, they really beat me down. To celebrate I decided to finally let the last company hear me loud and clear. Fuck you!
