So here’s some context. Work has cut out our OT and are only allowing us to work 40 hours per week and still meet our sales quotas. They’ve also cut down on the inbound leads (inbound calls) because management states that we’re not working the outbound leads anymore. Morale has gone way down for a job that pays a base salary of $32k per year. My 5th grade daughter has her final elementary school field trip tomorrow and yesterday I told her I couldn’t attend because of work. She then tells me, “didn’t you tell mom that if you died, your boss would replace you in a month?”. WTH? She must have heard a conversation I had with my wife weeks ago. Needless to say, I was able to get approval from her school to chaperone tomorrow and I’m calling out. Work will just have to wait another day.

After reading the post complaining about the nice manager posts, I wanted to share a positive story of solidarity. It is an old story. I worked for a third-party company of IBM, which was a call center. “Third party” really means that the company belonged to IBM, but it was registered as a separate firm. We had a really low salary. In Argentina there is also high inflation, so if you do not get a raise at least twice a year, your real salary decreases. For at least 30% of registered workers in Argentina, salary increases (to offset inflation) are negotiated by your union (it used to be higher when the economy was performing better). Hi everyone. I'm currently employed but looking for a new job as I'm not happy anymore in the current situation. It's quite difficult atm as I don't know how long it will take to find a new job but at he same time I have difficulties to stay motivated in the current job. It also affects my motivation and wellbeing in private life. Do you have strategies to overcome that and to be able to stay mentally stable?
