To keep a long story short I was a number one employee for my WFH company, received multiple awards and reviews stating my performance is always where it needs to be with no corrections to my work. I have recently struggled with my mental health and switching a long term antidepressant so while my productivity was not affected they are citing concerns for my “downtime”. I went from a raise and never having an issue to being accused of time theft. After a rough meeting with a lot of questions I ended up applying for FMLA, management referred me to HR and are investigating my time. At this point I just want to know if I am protected, I have multiple interviews lined up in case but if I can keep my job I'd love too purely based on my hours for work right now, nothing else is keeping me…
Category: Antiwork
I've recently been diagnosed with ADD/ASD and have never been able to keep a job longer that 6 months on average. Being fired from more than 13+ jobs has absolutely destroyed my mental health. I'm doing better, but I'm still depressed about it. (Fyi: losing the job has nothing to do with work ethic or IQ, it has everything to do with miscommunication, lack of focus, and burnout) Many employers have fired me for “not fitting in with corporate culture, “it's just not a good fit for the team” which roughly translates to, “your autistim disallowes you to seamlessly blend in, your mannerisms make you look weak, gullible, and weird, and your need for even the slightest accommodation is something we're not willing to do, so you're fired” My wife is pretty fed up with it too, so no income on my side caused her to get a second job;…
Why are Strikes always public?
Strikes are mostly known for picketing. Is that truly the most effective thing to do? I think it makes it easier to organize, not trying to say it’s nonsense. But if people rolled up to places and there was just no one I kinda think they would think about it instead of being mad at their inconvenience.
Another angry rant
I work for a Fortune 500 company. The store I work in generates millions of dollars of revenue every month, and it’s one of a few hundred stores like it. Last year the corporation turned 997 million in net income, with over 15 billion in total revenue. This morning I received an email titled “GoFund Me for Team members in need”. There are multiple heartbreaking stories of cancer, suicide and other very real issues being faced by human beings who work for this company. They have been reduced to essentially begging for help with medical, funeral and living expenses. Fuck capitalism, fuck corporations and especially fuck the people at the top who let this happen on a daily basis because their own pockets are being lined beyond the average persons wildest dream. Eat the rich.
Recently quit my job because of horrible management. Been cruising indeed and found a job that really piqued my interest. It was through a staffing agency. I filled out the very lengthy application on indeed, (you know, manually entering information already on my cv, dates, personal info). I get through it all and click “submit”. A few seconds later I received a text from the agency stating I need to call them during business hours to complete the application process. This was a week ago and I never heard anything more. I couldn’t believe it. I just gave them a mountain of my own info and they can’t respond to me? Maybe I’m being petty. It just seemed like I had to do more work for an agency that only gets paid when I get paid, and they couldn’t call me? Email me? WTF!
Help I’m new and terrified
21F, hired about six months ago in case management. I was assigned a task by my manager, and I asked him what the purpose behind the task was. He got really angry, and stated that he would take care of it, even though I stated multiple times that I was willing to, but just wanted to know why. Last week, I found a verbal warning statement on the (public in our department, so easily seen by my coworkers and superiors) printer saying that I failed to complete the task. This document was dated and said it was cc’d to our agency director. I overheard them talking about it, and I’ve been waiting for the shoe to drop. I’ve already decided to not sign the warning, under no circumstances, but the fact that my supervisor made this document and gave it to the director before coming to me and its been…
Quit My Job Today Without Notice
Nothing too exciting, but just wanted to share my tiny bit of gratification in leaving a toxic employer for greener pastures. In December 2022, my company approved me to move to another state to work remotely where we didn't have a physical office but did have an existing business nexus. They wrote me a letter of confirmation in order to get a mortgage approval for our first home in New State. Seven weeks later (and only two weeks before closing), I was unceremoniously told my remote auth had been revoked and they were no longer allowing employees to work from states without a physical office. I could have lost my mortgage and our house, but I scrambled to get the CFO to allow more time in the new state so that I wasn't technically lying to the lender when I said I would be continuing employment with that company after…
You’ll take it!
Retired delivery person here. I spent many years lugging others people precious purchases/possessions around and enjoyed my job for the most part. As with all jobs you run into silly people/situations from time to time. This involves me making a delivery of a document at an office. While having the receptionist sign for it. Another employee noticed me and said “oh good! You’re here! I’ve been waiting for you to pick up this package for a week. “ I didn’t have a pickup scheduled for them so I told her I was just there to make a delivery. She was instantly angry and demanded I take the package. I said okay let’s take a look. A good percentage of the time the label they have is for a different company so I can just tell them to contact that company. If it did have a valid shipping label for my…
Help me make the decision on a job offer
A company has been chasing me down for months now trying to get me to come work for them. I’m currently in sales and make a decent living (base+commission+car allowance=140k approx). The new company is offering 150k base no commission + company vehicle + large bonus at the end year based off performance. I currently work from home and travel 30-40% of the time, which I like. The new company tells me I can work from home but is unclear how much they’d me to travel, even though my territory will be the same. I’ve been with my current employer for 5 years, and even though management has changed and other departments cause me stress, it’s not a bad place to work and I enjoy what I do. My concern is that while the grass may look greener on the other side, I obviously do not want to enter a…
