When one browses through the internet one would get the impression that some people have 30 hours in their day. I see people that claim the read like 300 books a year while having a full time job and still have time for reddit – family etc I see people that claim they go to the gym every day while having a full time job and still have time for reddit- family etc I see people that claim they travel/meet with friends/go out while having a full time job and still have time for reddit – family etc Like how? I get up at 6 AM – leave at 6:45 and am at my desk at 7:45. At 4:45 PM I leave and am at home a 5:45 PM. I have just one hour travel time – which is pretty good. Many people have 1:20 – 1:40 or even 2…
I started working as a part-time remote online facilitator (basically a teacher) at this institution in Feb 2023 (contract signed till June). However, it's been more than 2 months and I haven't received a single pay cheque. Initially, there were some paperwork issues regarding incomplete bank details. However, I corrected all of those over a month ago (which is when I was informed about this in the first place). We're supposed to send our time sheets to their HR department (and I've been doing this). Their HR department doesn't get back to me in weeks. I don't know any higher-up person. There's an admin person present in all of my classes, who is responsible for sending me the meeting links etc. I did try asking them about this too but they sent me the entire timesheet procedure and said “Make sure you're doing this” (I am). I don't what to…
The ridiculous euphemism in this article's makes you think it's another Rupert Murdoch outlet… But this is supposed to be the only public news outlet in Australia which is known for its left leaning bias. Let's call child labour what it is.
So, I have a new manager and he’s been there for 4 months maybe. To provide context, I have been in my role for 3 years and my social media role for a single year. All platforms have grown exponentially and I have got nothing but praise by my director and board members. Now, in a meeting to discuss a potential raise my new manager relayed to me that not only do I make enough money, but his daughter can do my job at a cheaper rate. His teenage daughter can do what I do apparently because she handles some posting for a couple local shops in a rural part of town. Yesterday, I overheard him speaking to our fiscal manager about my pay and how his daughter can do XYZ. It’s honestly disrespectful that this is being brought up. I have been great at my job and somehow this…
New work policy
So my work has introduced a new policy… it feels illegal, but from what I can find online it’s not. Anyone who is found to not be in uniform will have their pay reduced to minimum wage for the day. Our starting rate is $13 an hour. Minimum wage in our state is $7.25.
Punishing not having kids
Question: Do you think the owning class / elite are somehow going to eventually punish people who choose not to have kids? With the world the way it is now, and the trajectory it is heading on, more and more people of my generation (Millennial) are opting for child-free lives, due to the harsh economic reality of having children these days, and also due to not wanting to bring children into a world that is headed the way it is. I myself have gotten a vasectomy, as I have been very sure for years that having children is just something I absolutely do not want to do. But that made me think. If too many people start to think the way I do, how will the elite ensure that they have the next generation of serfs to serve them? Could they do it through banning abortion? Access to contraception? One…
As the need for traditional employment decreases in a post-work society, governments must adapt to new roles and responsibilities to facilitate the transition to a more collaborative and inclusive world. In this post, we'd like to discuss how governments might evolve in response to these changes and the potential implications for citizens. Funding and Administering Universal Basic Services One of the primary roles governments may take on is funding and administering universal basic services. This could include providing access to healthcare, education, housing, and other essential services for all citizens, regardless of income or employment status. Promoting Innovation Governments can play a crucial role in fostering innovation and technological advancements in a post-work society. This may involve investing in research and development, offering incentives for new industries, and supporting educational institutions that cultivate creative thinkers and problem-solvers. Encouraging Social Cohesion As the importance of community and social connections becomes more…
