My father and I both work for the railroad. Solid union jobs that can be hard work, but for me is pretty rewarding. I've always seen and thought about how wages have not kept up with inflation and it's infuriating. I actually went to college for business management and that's where I began to see how shitty the business world was before entering it. My dad informed me that when he started out in the 90s, he was making $19 an hour. So if our wages kept up with inflation which from what I can see has been 65% from 1996-2020, I should be making around $31 an hour… I'm making $41. Unions work. For the love of God organize. I've been working at McDonalds for about 2 months now and it sucks We are almost always being rushed to complete everything as fast as possible and our customers don't seem to realize we are human and we make mistakes I get paid less than a new hire. At this point, I can't even get a job working as a hotel housekeeper. I don't have a super shitty resume. I'm not completely uneducated. What I do have though is lady parts and a family. Heaven forbid! I haven't worked in nearly a year. I had a really scary pregnancy and I'm presently living in a Ronald Mcdonald House, and have been since my son's birth, waiting for him to have open heart surgery later this month. I own my home, thankfully, and owe nothing on it. But now I can't even afford to get the electric and water turned back on so I can sell it. to make a long story short i work in the floral department at Vons. i love what I do but hate who i work with. she's super unreliable when it comes to her job & constantly calls in “sick.” she'll use the sick excuse to not show up for inventory, leave during holiday seasons, & get away with ordering. she'll take multiple breaks & long bathroom breaks to get away from doing her job not to mention she's constantly on the damn phone. We recently launched a new product and I and my team have been working on it tirelessly for the past 12-18 months (Along with the original product which we were hired full-time for). We do everything for the product from Sales, support, and marketing to even a bit of development (Even though I am not from a development background) so far we have quite a few customers. Recently the director bought a new head and has convinced the director that no work has been done and has given us a poor performance review. I used to love going to work and now I can barely get up from my bed. I am not sure what to do here. Any advice here?
