While driving home, I noticed that multiple fast food chains have higher starting rates than my workplace. I work for my city's public library. I was told upon my interview I would be eligible for a pay raise after 90 days. Nope! Turns out it's actually after 12-18 months. The manager who told me this no longer works at my location so there is no one told hold accountable for this statement.
So I recently began training at a new server job. I was very clear at the interview, on my application, and on my official availability that I could never under any circumstances work Saturdays. I’m at church all day and my parents are very religious. They believe that working that day is an insult to god, and since I still live with them I choose respect it. Well, I just received my schedule and saw that one of my four days is on Saturday. Apparently the availability I put in two weeks ago hasn’t even been reviewed yet. I’m so tired of this happening at every single job I’ve had. They all try to schedule me and see if I’ll be pushed into working that ONE day. I’m also young (19F) and all the jobs I’ve had have tried to push me around with scheduling, because I’m young and can…
$15 an hour is the new minimum wage
Everywhere I look even at certain qualified jobs like construction or teaching, it's always $15. Like it's some ground shattering salary when fast food jobs pay the exact same thing.
I started a new job. It’s a large corporation and a few of my roommate’s friends work there. After my roommate told them I might be working there, they have been constantly trying to get information about me from their manager such as my university, my major, where I live, and more details about my personal life that I don’t feel like divulging to strangers who are a distant friend of a roommate. They have gone to the extent of telling their manager that I am close friends with them to get more information about my past even though I have never met them. This has made me extensively uncomfortable since they are also giving me work orders through my roommate instead of speaking directly to me. Since I have just joined, I don’t know if I’m in any place to immediately complain, but this is making me upset and…

Sorry for the long winded post, but I've been saving up this story and I struggle with paraphrasing, bare with me. I worked for an Aerospace company for 10 years. During those 5 years I wanted nothing more than to learn every facet of the job. During those 10 years I received 9 perfect performance reviews and 9 max raises. The ones I didn't get was during my early time when I went out of my lane and performed a task that was not my job, and could have caused issues regarding (already damaged) equipment investigations. Needless to say, I was a stellar employee who got shit done quickly, effectively, and efficiently. I was the go to guy on site. And my one fuck-up, led to the company sending me to train on the work that I was performing out of my lane. Fast forward to the story. I was…
