Soooo my job has been work from home for 7 years lol and now my employer has decided to jump on this weird ass “need-to-watch-you-fart-in-an-office-chair” kick and they're forcing us into the office even though they're extremely short on offices and other departments actually need them. Fucking weird lol.
For context, I work in child protective services. I was transporting a severely mentally ill child that had a an “incident” that led to him attacking me. He is a child so my injuries are minor scrapes and bruises, but this was an hours long incident in which I was all alone despite alerting supervisors of the issue. I took the next day off, but I am still reeling and do not feel up to doing my incredibly difficult, underpaid, and undertrained job. I have no union protection, (Georgia) and am feeling lost.
It’s not really “bullying” more like purposely leaving them out. When I got to my shift I liked my leadership because my direct lead was a cool dude. A really cool dude who shielded us from a lot of the rest of leadership’s BS. We didn’t know how much until he stepped down. RIP Dave (he moved to days) At first I was cool with all of leadership since I thought they were cool. I would bring cakes and cookies (overflow from my hobby) i’d give them out to my coworkers and leadership. Everyone was pretty happy with that deal. A small group of us would go out some days, this did include Dave who was leadership at the time and John who wasn’t leadership yet. Now that Dave is gone and we feel like John is a bootlicking traitor, we don’t invite John to coworker meetups anymore. We never…
They are focusing on the wrong things.
Screw this woman
Title says it all. Got a DM on LinkedIn late last Friday evening from a recruiter of a clothing brand, as I'm an apparel designer. Message literally says “Hello. There is a design role/project at [Company], that I would like to discuss with you. If you are interested, please email me at [email] with your resume and examples of your work and we can discuss next steps. Thank you for your time and consideration, -Recruiter” How am I not supposed to take that as anything other than a job offer? My excitement was palpable! My art portfolio is the only site linked on my resume, so I assumed they were liking what they saw. I emailed them back within minutes that same day not expecting to hear back until Monday. My email included both an updated resume and the same link to my online portfolio. Queue a weekend of happy…
no one was hired
i’m an adjunct professor. i had several rounds of interviews for a full time position with a college. they went really well. i was told as much by folks on the hiring committee. i felt really confident. i just learned that they closed the position without hiring anyone i’m super nervous that the economic downturn is gonna mean that i am absolutely SOL after a decade of getting a phd and working 80 hours a week adjuncting just to fail to make ends meet. there are so few full time academic jobs to begin with because of the predatory, exploitative model of higher education. now a recession? the whole reason i went to grad school is because i couldn’t find work after graduating with a BA during the great recession. i can’t do this bs anymore. my record is impeccable. i am an award winning prof who is well liked…
