Can someone smarter than me create a website? How many people realistically could we get to join? Instead of just shouting into the void let's do something. I consider anything below 20 an hour a low wage. We all know and see it everyday, the lowest paid workers are the ones who do the hardest labor. I'm tired of going into work and seeing my coworkers pretend everything is ok. I know 90% of them are living paycheck to paycheck. How long are we going to let a small minority of the population steal the majority of the profit that we produce? Just so they can flex on the rest of us.

I work at a small cafe inside a hotel in the front. My duties are making coffee, light cooking and using the register. I work in California so the job is strictly 5-6 hours, no overtime ever. I can't do 3 things at once, run…
I accidentally clocked in an hour late today, so I went in our system to change it (its a small business and our system is left on admin), only to find my clock in time for Saturday was changed from 11 AM to 2 PM. There are some odd circumstances that make this (almost) excusable, except for the fact that I was never contacted about the issue. Essentially I am working “two” jobs right now, one hourly and one commission, both at the same business, and I am supposed to clock out when I am doing the commission work. The hiccup here is that there is still work on the hourly side that I occasionally have to step out and do during my commission work. (Dealing with phones, customer walk ins,…

NPR was so close, and yet they just go along with the author that its all the individual worker’s fault. It’s certainly not a toxic, unhealthy work environment demanding this of each person.
