Long story short, my company offered me a job with a lot more pay. I accepted it and got the position and I clearly stated I wanted to keep my regular schedule … now comes today in training is supposed to start and it’s completely different than the schedule I used to have .. I have a meeting scheduled with HR to discuss what’s going on 🤦️ what can I do ??? I would like to stay with the new job and they promised me my schedule !
I have a vacation bank and sick time bank. Vacation time accrues so damn slow. I’m trying to save all vacation time for future traveling. Sick time accrues faster. I have more hours in sick time than vacation time. I can use my sick time for medical appts besides being sick. I’ve decided I will say I have a medical appt for any other personal appt I got like car maintenance or other personal matters. Personal matters use up vacation time. Besides it’s not like every month I will have an appt for personal matters and actual medical matters. Even then they can’t tell me crap if for some reason when I legitimately have medical appts because I have anemia which requires checkup very often. If I have car trouble, I’m forced to use my vacation time. Say I want to come in later until I figure out what’s wrong…
might as well start “quiet quitting” too
Last year I've finally got a job in my area (environment), I worked as a service provider for the water and sewage company in my state, I'm on salary, semi-decent pay and the job was fine. I was quite ok in the company but this Friday something happened that made me question myself. I was in another city, 600km(372 miles?) from where I live for two weeks with another two coworkers(which I already didn't fully agree, as I said I couldn't travel this month). It started well but I noticed that those two, maybe because they had more time in the company than me, started to berate, humiliate and putting in the right terms, treating me like shit. Didn't make and effort to talk and when needed they had and awful attitude. Friday, which was the second to last day of the trip, my boss called us and simply freak…
thought this sub might enjoy the most “no fun allowed” dress code ive ever seen. $15.40/hr and i have to buy an entire new wardrobe. i cannot make a single acceptable outfit out of anything i own. gonna try and keep all the receipts for my work clothes and get the cost deducted from my taxes. https://preview.redd.it/jyscx6dm4uva1.png?width=902&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=7d6c3308fccde399f37d6fa32fa7f681fe9c7ffb https://preview.redd.it/7bbhmlmn4uva1.png?width=830&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=7fa025636bd323b11e6d73a0eadf50874541dfe1
Rant ahead: Why do I keep pushing myself into things I don’t want? From the time I was a kid, I wanted to write about cars and stuff like that. When I was in college the first time I had all these naysayers telling me to do something that could definitely get me a job, and that a communications and media degree would be worthless. And I listened to them. And I went into education, and I am definitely not cut out for it. I’m currently teaching special education in a private day school for kids with behavioral and emotional regulation disorders. So anyway, I found writing jobs on indeed that I’m going to apply for by sending my résumé highlighting the freelance stuff I was doing for low paying content brokers. If I must labor for wages, I may as well do something I want to do. I’m also…
I cried today because of my job. There was a third round of layoffs in the last year on Thursday. Were we told beforehand? No. Was anyone who wasn't laid off told? Also, no. Did anyone in the media cover it? No, because we are the media. The only reason I know is because one of those good people who were laid off took the time to email me and tell me how much they enjoyed working with me. From their personal email. 3 days later. 40 years with a company and laid off with no warning. I was honored that they did that for me – which was why the crying. The company is making more changes in the next couple months. Changes that will make me unable to do my job – for a few months anyway – until they figure out how to make the software do…
Let me start this off with my father-in-law is an awful person. He’s the type of Christian that will do awful things but if he donates to the church on Sunday he’ll get into Heaven. Back in July 2022 I started working for him. He agreed to pay me $15 a hour. He owns several businesses and has a few hundred employees so he was definitely able to afford it. I photocopied the paper work for myself because I always keep employment papers in general. Fast forward to last Friday. I needed to collect all my pay stubs for proof of income and at this point I didn’t check any of them because I blindly trusted him. To my surprise I was being paid a $1.50 less than agreed upon. I went to HR and asked what the hell, she was obviously guilt ridden but told me the same exact…
I've heard of the bait and switch where employers say on job posts that the starting wage is one thing, then tell you at the interview that it's way less than that. I've worked at companies where they promise you certain benefits and it turns out the benefits are empty, ex. “we have an employee health plan!” aka “there technically is health insurance you can sign up for, but if you do, you'll see less than minimum wage on the check and won't be able to afford food or rent, because the company doesn't actually contribute.” Well, my partner and I are in the middle of renovating our house, which we were able to afford because it's pretty much falling apart. We are both in the construction industry, so it should be easy to fix it up by ourselves. He's working 60 hours a week so I can dedicate myself…
