Elderly People Working
Not sure if this is the right sub, but I think it is… My coworker and I decided to grab Subway after our shift a few weeks ago, it was around 10 PM. Subway closes at 11 in our town. We walk in and the only employee is an older woman who looks over 70. We talk with her for a bit as she makes our food, and she says that she's the only employee at the moment and has to close alone. It takes my coworker and I (plus our manager) around 45 minutes to close and we also have a lot less things to do at closing than she does. I can't imagine how long it would take for an elderly woman to work and close a shift alone. She also told us that she had a group of rude college students come in. It made me sad.…
Boss tells me I have until tomorrow to decide. My boss did not present my most recent paycheck, the pay stub that goes with it, nor the paycheck of what they owe me up to this point, and I am also missing my paystub from the prior pay period. I can’t see any reason to bring a warning notice to the table when I’ve been an otherwise exemplary employee, other than the chance for the boss to be a petty bitch. Also to be noted, this a small mom and pop shop business in a small rural town where gossip reigns. The reason for the written warning has nothing to do with me. They’re blaming me for the actions of another employee, and if they bothered looking at their camera footage, they’d figure this out. Can/should I report them to the labor board for not presenting what they owe me…
Another goodie
I’ve seen post after post of newer users testifying that no matter what or how hard you try, working is pointless. All of your efforts and hard work will result in nothing. Is this what everyone on this sub truly believes? I was born a poor kid, but after working hard I have what so many call impossible. I know many others like me. I am weary of the messages being spread and urge the users of this sub not to lose hope.
“I hereby request the above noted availability. I understand that should my availability not be accommodated as it may not meet the needs of the business and I fail to show for my scheduled shifts my employment with Wendy's may be terminated for cause without further notice, pay in lieu of notice, or severance. I have also read and understood Wendy's Policy 220 (Absenteeism, Tardiness, and Job Abandonment) and Policy 322 (Minimum Hours of Work and Call-In) and agree to be bound by these said policies.”
Budgeting guy got transferred
After many years of toiling in the field I got my business degree and took a promotion to the budgeting office of the purchasing department. The budget was several million dollars a year. Everything went fine for about five years until I made a $21,000 error by not spending that amount out of the capital budget by year end. I admitted the error to the manager who got pissed off and transferred me to a different department and gave the budgeting to a new person. She came in and made a $492,000 error her first, and last year. When I heard about the error I bought lunch for the guys.
I have asthma and at work, I don’t know how to read a gas monitor but I don’t think it’s supposed to look like this. If anyone can help me.
I was hoping to impact some change in the big business I work for, well it didn't go well and I gotta nice surprise from HR on Thursday. I received an email saying the meeting for the committee was canceled, I ask my coworker if she received the email..she said no. I asked the person who sent the email when the next meeting was….person said to ask HR when it is. HR stated a hearsay story about me talking negatively about said committee (“the commitee gets nothing done” which is not something I would say due to the changes made recently to PTO) and this hearsay resulted in me being kicked out of the committee. HR tried to say some BS like they are now “voting” members in….why would that even happen!? Why would anyone waste their time in a committee that is supposed to engage employees if they didn't…
