First of all, let me state this. Never work for any pharmaceutical company in India, my experience so far has been horrible. Anyway, this new client contacted me, and at the beginning they would pay me more or less punctually. Then they requested a video be transcribed, translated, adapted for dubbing, then dubbed. Supposedly they already had a transcription done, but it was machine made and it was awful and quite evidently no human being had reviewed it whatsoever. They were desperate and needed it ASAP, but “compromised” and gave me a few more days to get it done. So, I get the job done, and deliver a professional dub…and they ghosted me. Lately I’ve been planning moving out of my city. There’s a bunch of factors that are playing into my decision (High COL, no affordable housing, low paying jobs, etc) and plus I have just grown tired of it. I know this sounds pretty stupid but I am 26 years old and I just got back into skateboarding last year (quit at 15) and holy shit it is literally all I want to do with my life anymore. I’m not even remotely joking my life is genuinely centered around skateboarding and I even put it over my job most of the time. I have to stop pretending to myself that anything else even matters to me now. I am fortunate to have a job that is very flexible and laid back. It allows me to skate more during the week than most. So I was thinking about root words, origins, etymology today. Capitalism has, as a root, the latin capitalis, then caput. Caput meant head, capitalis was “pertaining to the head”. Hence, capitals are the head of government. Decapitate is removing one's head. So how does capitalize (to take advantage of) fit? To become the head of something, to take power. The people that put capitalism into practice knew exactly what it was. A system designed to take power and control from others. To take advantage of others for personal gain. It's never been about economic growth, developing industry and productivity. It's always been about taking power from others. Anything else that happens is a side effect of the intended goal to oppress and exploit. I mean hell, “to exploit” and “to capitalize on” mean the same damn thing.

It makes me extremely anxious and exhausted to the point that I cant focus on anything in my spare time. Anybody else?

I currently work a 2-2-3 day shift 6 to 6 schedule and my job decided to switch the schedule for my part of the plant to 5 day 8 hour work weeks. They told me I could keep working 2-2-3 but only if I took a night shift position which does include a few dollars raise, they really want me to do this. They told me yesterday and I have to make a decision by Monday. Obviously I don't want to give in but I would lose out on about $200~ every two weeks if I stayed on day shift. How can I deal with this work situation?
