“Why are you interested in working here?”

Because y’all are hiring and I need money for goods and services???? “What draws you to this line of work?” It’s an entry level position that has job openings. Obviously I usually lie and I say I’m interested in the area of work, but I always internally roll my eyes at the question.

My boss told me that I need to hide the fact that I am tired at work :)

For context I'm a veterinarian, one of the jobs with the highest suicide rate. Yay ! Starting strong. I've been struggling with a depression relapse for three months now, and that obviously shows. My boss is happy with my performance in general, but thinks I'm not a strong team player because I don't hide the fact that I'm tired and I would like to go home all the time. I work three days a week (which is supposed to be a 30 hour week, but I do a 40 hour week give and take because of UNPAID EXTRA WORK) and he said that my coworkers who work more hours feel upset when I say that I'm tired because they work more. Keep in mind I'm not the negative blob all the time, I'm cheerful and bubbly and I always make my coworkers laugh. But when they ask how I'm doing,…

My former co-worker just got sweet revenge on a bad boss

To set the stage, a coworker (let's call him Bob) was fired a couple of months ago. Bob oversaw a pretty large team, was well liked by everyone (in and outside of his team), and generally was seen as the ideal employee. Unfortunately, the only person that didn't agree was Bob's boss (John)–it's not exactly clear why John didn't like Bob anymore, but he claimed Bob wasn't meeting his deadlines/goals and fired him. John then took Bob's job, reassigned about half of the responsibilities (because it was an unreasonable amount of work for one employee) and posted the opening. John has been interviewing candidates for Bob's replacement and narrowed it down to some outside candidate and another former coworker (Adam). Adam used to be on Bob's team but left shortly before Bob was fired for a much better position somewhere else. It was a big surprise to everyone that Adam…

Advice on company meeting

Hi guys, first time poster. Have a weird situation at work that I wanted advice on. I work at a popular food stop in a downtown location in a dense city. We have multiple locations but one in particular has been plagued by violent homeless people harassing staff and customers. I actually don’t work at this location after a homeless man tried to break in after hours while I was closing. I’ve also had several coworkers assaulted, luckily no one has been injured (yet). Homeless people have set up a camp of sorts right outside the door and they’ll walk in ask everyone in line for money, then ask us for free food. We had to close the exit (against advice of the fire Marshall) because they would steal food from the to go area daily. They’ll also dig through the customer garbage in front of us, throwing everything on…
