In the 1950s the world population was around 2.5 billion people. It is now around 8 billion people and it is expected to go to around 10 billion before balancing out (That is the theory anyway). So that is a 25% increase from were we are now. The reality is that I think people forget how many a billion is.. The next biggest species to us are the livestock species to feed us. (The conditions we create for mass farming are insanely brutal to witness) We have islands of garbage in the ocean. We have changed so many unique and wonderful landscapes into standardized crop production to keep us alive at these levels. In major population centers and industrial centers the air itself is poison and the smoggy haze is literally viewable. We have gotten rid of so much amazing biodiversity. It is gone. We having growing political extremism due…

Maybe this is the wrong subreddit – I’ve just had so many experiences (with small companies even) where it was clear no one looked at my resume, then acted surprised when the resume wasn’t an exact cookie cutter fit to what they do. For example, I have several years experience as an EE doing RF testing type of work but am open to other jobs in my field. I had an employer schedule a 4 hour tour and interview only to realize I did not have experience with PLC and low frequency type stuff. They made up an excuse and cut the interview short two hours. I’ve had this happen several other times where employers seem upset when me (an entry level worker a few years out of college) does not have literally the exact experience to work there. Then you always have headhunters spamming you about opportunities where it’s…
One minute…
My manager lost his ever loving mind on me over one minute. Instead of clocking in at 7:30, I clocked in at 7:31, and he lost his shit. I get it, I need to be on time for work, but to him “on time” means 5 minutes early. If you wanted me there at 7:25, why didn’t you schedule me at 7:25? I’m a hard worker, but I disagree with the whole “on time is late” mentality that a lot of supervisors have. If you want me to show up at a certain time, schedule me for that time, it makes sense.

Why can’t work just be about work?
A problem I've been dealing with the last few weeks especially at my workplace is the almost feeling of resentment from some coworkers, whether it be people at my level or higher up. It has nothing to do with my work or my attitude at work, it has to do with how I choose to spend (or not spend) my time outside of work. Everyone from work seems to hang out with each other, constantly going to bars and other places. I'm not about that so I don't go. But now people keep piling on and seeming to turn me into the joke now that I don't spend my time doing their kinds of stuff. It's getting worse because now it's spread its way to higher up's who now are now making me the butt of the jokes, calling me out/laughing at me for reasons that have nothing to do…
