That’s pretty much it. Was living in my car trying to make ends meet while coming off disability AND going to school full time. I was “the best employee” they’ve ever had. Cross trained everywhere, 3 tardies in one year (most get 3 a week) always stayed late, OT, never said no for almost 2 years. During that time I would apply and get rejected for promotions for what I later found out were made up reasons. The people who usually got promoted weren’t cross trained at all, late, and usually big time flirts with the managers. I was always the one put todo the hard job bc it’s “procedure” and I have “no seniority” even though I did. I’d get the worst schedule, worst jobs etc. When I was pushing carts they would force us to TIE THRASHBAGS AROUND OUR WAIST AND THROW TRASH IN THEM WE FOU D…

Boss man sent me to go pick up the $300 arrangement he had custom made for his wife. I came back and he asked me if I got anything for my wife for Mother’s Day, knowing they messed my check up and I got paid half what I should of and our rent takes up 85% of my check. No man, I can’t even pay rent with what I got paid, how am I supposed to buy my wife flowers?
Store manager is out for 3 months with a health matter, so we have employees taking advantage of the situation trying to bully other employees they believe aren’t doing enough. 2 ladies who constantly complain about doing most of the days work wrote this note and left it hanging over the time clock, so I was forced to read it because it was hanging in the way of punching out. After a day of busting my ass I get to read this shit. The ladies found out I took it down when I went on break and waited up by the front of the store for me to come back in(30 minutes) to confront me about it. We got into an argument but I kept it low tone and professional so we didn’t freak out any customers. I said the note was “unprofessional and inappropriate, and if they had issues…
Why is every job so meaningless and do nothing for the soul? 90 percent of jobs do not make the world a better place. I’d argue they make the world a worse place. Who set it up like this? Why do people think your crazy for not wanting to work a job where you can’t provide for your family but it allows another person to provide for there’s?
1 Doritos Nacho Cheese 5oz costs around $2,50. The minimum wage with taxes is $1,05 per hour. ($252,90 per month) Considering $1 = R$5,16. Hand for scale. 1,5 hours of my work… For this.
Cancer. When a business grows at the expense of everything else, we call it.. good business? It's cancer, it's all cancer.
I am Canadian and Gen Z. I didn't have the opportunity for college because I was out on my own by 17. Despite being a straight A student I had to decide between survival and school, and obviously I chose survival, dropped out and started working. I figured, that's OK, I'll just make lemonade with these fucking lemons, whatever. I became a prep cook to make ends meet, and worked my way onto the line. I figured I wont ever be comfy, but at least I'll have an apartment and be able to afford food. I was making more money at 18 then I am at 24 with inflation, despite multiple raises and doing my best to increase my income. I make 22/hr now and I can't even afford my own apartment and live with roommates. Average single family home where I am costs 970k (with conversions that's 5k more…
